Pretty odd story from Boulder today. A guy runs off to the side of the runway on landing, crosses through a fence and on to an adjacent road and hits a Prius and shearing a wing off his plane. He then exits the plane, reaches back in and grabs a large black satchel, then runs away.
    He returned later.

Strange that he would flee the scene and come back later in the day.

Maybe he had to make some last minute entries in his logbook before he talked with the FAA?
Or maybe buy a few hours before a blood test is taken?

A go-around would have been a good investment (of both time & money) in that situation.

Very interesting - I bet this story will become even more entertaining as the days go by. Most importantly, I'm glad noone was hurt.

    Regards,

Probably just his flight bag, with charts, headphones, etc.

My guess is "inconsistancies" with the logbook needed sorting or the guy needed a few hours to sober up.......

    Just my 2c...

Suuuuuure, after crashing into a car and shearing the wing off of my plane, my first concern would be making sure that my charts and headphones were safely stored away.....

I'm going to guess that there was something more in the bag than just the necessary items....bottle of Jack, baggie of sumthin, wad of cash....who knows.

24 hours bottle to throttle, a few hours isn't going to hide the truth, just lessen the enormity of the screwup.
