I saw that ferrari parts exchange has a 15K kit that seems adequate and an alright deal for my '75 GT4 2 valve. Can anybody confirm or deny. Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Spencer,

Looking for the cheapest parts for your revival project on a Ferrari is false economy. I suggest you get 2 new timing belts, 2 new bearings, and a water pump belt from Ricambi. The filters, well anything except Fram will do. Spark plugs from Kragen work.

That is a minimum for the timing circuits. It is highly recommended that you change out the bearings behind the timing drive pulleys.

Those carburetors will NEED to be rebuilt, $75 each for a kit, and you need 4.

Plus, change all those hoses, or drive around with a fire extinguisher and a book of prayers.

But, it is your car, do as you wish or as your budget allows. Good luck.

+1 to the comments above. What I've done is I have one supplier that I always call first for routine/recurring items like belts/filters, etc.... I always price check on most items
that I am replacing because prices vary wildly. For the most part I find that GT Car Parts has the best prices, but not always. I've placed orders with darn near every supplier out there for various items. While it's good to look, stick to the reputable suppliers (GT Car Parts, Ricambi, TRutlands, AllFerrariParts, Ferr Parts) and you'll be fine.

I recommend reading the archives for discussions on non-name brand tensioner bearings and UFI filters...

I'm glad to hear you committed to doing the belts. I was talking to our mutual friend Memory (remember her?) the other day when she called for some advice. It seems her husband was driving her GT/4 and heard (his words) "a whooshing sound followed by a loss of power." He managed to get it home. Front bank belt broken in half.

I had him remove the cam cover and cams and put a straightedge across the valve buckets - two exhaust valves a couple of millimeters lower than the others. A compression test confirmed: no pressure in two cylinders. Now It's decision time.

Option (1) An engine-out rebuild, probably $10K to do it right.
Option (2) Sell it as-is, probably worth $7K

If she fixes it and sells it she'll probably get $18K for it, a 60K miles car in very good shape with a new engine, so any way you look at it its going to cost her $10K.

Others may quibble with my figures, but my point is:

    CHANGE THOSE BELTS!

Yeah, only if he does all the work himself.
