When previous owner bought 050 the engine was deemed to hard and expensive to restore so it was sold to another 5000gt owner in Germany and replaced with an Indy engine.. I now believe this car has been sold to England?

it now has a 5000gt engine, which number though I dont know.. I also believe that someone is is putting a 151 engine into a 5000 chassis now.. we will see soon..

My friend Barrie B. from England purchased the 151-REplica coming from the Peter Kaus Collection. He managed to find an original 151-engine and this package is currently being installed.

That is the question, if the frame and engine are 5000GT then the car is a factory rebodied 5000GT with a Mexico body. If the frame and body are from a Mexico with a 5000GT motor and 103 stamp then the car is a Mexico.

It is a Mexico that used the papers and the chassis numbers of a 5000GT when it was imported into Mexico (sic!). Owner has been trying to unload it for years.

How can you be so sure?have you inspected the chassis?I did back when the car was at HMI and I can tell you the frame isn't a 5000gt.
according to Jerry woods who lived in Mexico and personally saw 022 back in the days the car was involved in a major accident and was never seen again and possibly destroyed.
I believe that in order to avoid duty tax the factory used the same chassis plate and sent a mexico prototipo to the owner.Alex Penkoff made trips to Mexico and worked on the car at time.He purchased the car from the family and had it shipped to california. the engine is a standard mexico with equipped with a zfs520 trans.

I am not sure where you got that information but the tags never went back to the 250F.
I can send you photos of the tags if you want!
042 was the official car of the president of Mexico back in the early 60s.

    Jacques,
I have confirmed info that the original tag of #2525 was with #042. It was fitted at some time. For whatever reason I do not know.

KD sold the tag back to the owner of the 250F #2525. He confirmed this by mail last year

    Ciao!

I can insure you that KD didn't sell the original tag back to the owner.if he did then they were copies.

Here are a few pictures of 042 when restoration started at Piscasi.
hard to see is the original black and yellow mexican official registration still with car as of today on the bottom right rear glass.
Also included is a copy of the original bill of sale from the factory to the President of Mexico as well as the original owner's manual.

    Jacques,
this are the tags that are welded on the dashboard. You can buy them with various resto-shops. I meant the tag that is welded on the chassis-tube!

Here is the pic of the original tag (incl. the factory-"stars" on both sides of the number), welded on the chassis of the 5000GT #042.

OK, then my info is wrong (although the owner of #2525 confirm to me that he purchased the original tag from KD....). But you confirm that the 5000GT still bears the genuine chassis-no.-tag of #042. Whatever the case was - this alone is very interesting!

    Ciao!
