Apparently it was an original 1937 Bugatti design but never actually built due to WW2. The rebuild was sanctioned by the Bugatti Trust and all original Bugatti parts were used, making it as close to an original without actually being one.

I agree. The masulinity level of the GTO is 10 times more than the standard 599. That equates to 10 times more men chasing after you when you look in your rear view mirror
