There is a 308 on ebay that has the seat leather like, or from a 288 GTO. Are these covers still available?

are they $4000+ as the ad suggests?

i am looking for QV, and many of the cars i have seen, need new leather and carpet, and i have always liked the 512BB / 288GTO style leather seat covers. I think the red pleats with red sewn horsies in the headrests would be cool with a black interior.

car in question is in California ( too far to ship, and is a carb car, so its out of my range of focus)

That looks familiar to me - almost Daytonaesque IMO. I kind of dig it though....

    Good day,

Why not try the Italian firm that does a lot of the leather for Ferrari?

    http://www.tappezzerialuppi.com/profilo_uk.htm

I contacted them a few years ago about new seat skins for my 512BB and the price was 1200 Euros and a 15 day delivery...

Who knows, with the current exchange rate, it may be a lot cheaper to buy from them than from Re-Originals even if one includes the shipping cost...

    Cheers,

    Sam

Carreaper, he answers your question in his ad...

"The Daytona Style Seat Covers were Custom Made in Italy by the OEM Ferrari Upholstery Mfg.at a cost of $4700.00 with the Cavallino Logo embossed on the headrest and done only 2 years ago. Plus you get the original seatcovers which are in excellent conditionBeautiful leather design."

BTW - 288 GTO original seats are narrower than 308 QV seats, so leather isn't interchangable.

yep, saw that, but they used Connolly leather then, which is not available anymore, so i figured it was new old stock, and expensive, besides, i had no clue who the heck supplies leather for the modern cars now ! :)

thanks for th tip on the widths too !

I understand (from a thread on ************.com) that Poltrona Frau supplies the leather for the newer Maseratis - is it likely that they are also the current vendor for Ferrari, as well?

Poltrona Frau is making interiors, but they are not a tannery.

my 76 GTB had the red horsies sewn into the headrests, i really liked the look. i know its not original, but i really dont care anymore about " originality" on some things.

    your look great!

now i need to find a fraking car !

Thanks, I think they came out pretty nice.

I know they weren't original too but so much else on my car isn't I didn't really care either. I wanted to break up the all black interior and I think this was a nice way to do it. I thought about red piping around the edges of the seats or red stitching on the console but I'm glad I didn't. The red in the seats and a small bit on the "A" pillar and I think it looks good!

Now I just need to get mine fraking running properly again so I can drive it and show off the seats!! ;)

The daytona style seats are neat. It's probably the only non factory cosmetic modification I would make to my future 308/328.

These are interesting. . . I might consider doing this on my GTB (already has black and red interior!) when the current seats wear out.

Question, though: I always assumed that the GTO was black and red leather. I've only seen one GTO in person, and didn't get a close enough look at the seats to disabuse me of that assumption.

However, the man who knows the most about GTOs, Joe Sackey, says that most, perhaps all, of the GTO seats were black leather with the red being a "velour" material:

Okay, now, velour. Uhh. . . maybe TOO eighties.

heh, speaking of the 80's I just won an Ebay auction for sheepskins to cover up the ratty leather in my GTS QV until I get the seats recovered, hopefully over the next winter.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270573172724&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

A local interior guy quoted $900 to recover in OEM style with vinyl, $1200 in leather, with piping in red or black if I chose.

For $75 figured the sheeps were worth a try. Have them in my fiancee's BMW528 and really like them.

    cheers

Okay, sheepskins are one thing - fine as a stop-gap measure.

But when you do get your interior redone, it's worth the extra $300 to get leather rather than vinyl. My friend, you've got to draw the line at vinyl!

    LOL!

hey I only considered vinyl for about 3 seconds. The stuff he used to recover the rear package 'shelf' looks decent enough.
But of course you're right, the seats (and probably door panels) will be covered in the finest Corinthian hides :)
