Depends on your definition of the word "real". According the owner, Tony Niosi, there is only one true XJ13 and that is in the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust in Coventry, England. The original car was built in March 1966 to compete at LeMans but the program got shelved because it was too late to be competitive and by Jaguar's takeover by BMC There are a handful of reproductions and this one is Tempero chassis no. 001 built as an all alloy monocoque constructed to factory specs using original factory suppliers. Tempero is based in New Zealand and built this car in the early 1990's I believe. http://www.temperocars.com/makes/xj13/xj13a.html It has the correct 30 digi fuel injected 5.3 liter dry sump V-12 with 485 hp, a 5 speed ZF transaxle, accurate dimensions and weight, instrumentation and windshield. Alloy is 16 gauge while the original is 18 gauge. It is road registered as a 1966 model year in New York State. Tony told me that he bought it several years ago from the Blackhawk Museum. He gave me a flyer with a more complete description that you can also see on his website: http://www.xj13jaguar.com/ So it is not "real" in the sense that it was not built by the factory at the time but it is a "real" authentic reproduction and "real" nice.
It was pretty covered with road dust and dirt yesterday. Here are a couple of pictures from last year's Greenwich Concours when it was spiffed up: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Saw these guys as well as several DB9's, Continental GT's, a couple 430's, and a Gallardo SL on Saturday on my way out to East Hampton. Was forwarded with this picture today by a good friend with the text "outside my office.. just in case people didn't already hate Morgan Stanley". Assuming it's 1585 Broadway.
