    Carefully measure the new rotor for compliance before installation, there's some 'long nose' ones out there, tearing up caps.....

    It appeared that way.....the tip electrode looks pretty good, trouble at the center pin and /or spring.....

    Looks like an old rotor that was thrown into a camp fire for a bit then plucked out and tossed into an old wig and rolled around...

    Ur lucky day, looks like you have the cheaper to buy version of the 308 rotor and not the big green/black chunky expensive rotors . Good luck

    What caused THAT "Rotor Roast???????"



    I am not sure rotors do that of their own accord.

    That rotor looks pretty yellow, so I suppose it was in there for a pretty long time.

    I had one fail in exactly the same way, but it burnt much further, and thus made a lot of 'wool' within the distributor. Car wouldn't idle on that bank, but ran OK above 2000rpm, go figure.

    The replacement was very cheap and has been in there for 10.000kms now.

    I had a new (150 mls after replacement) rotor short out from the center pick up through to the camshaft end, which led to that bank practically not producing any power. It took some time to find it as the new parts are not the ones you suspect of being faulty at first.

    The insulating properties break down with time. Over the years they have made a few bad batches which did it very quickly. It got so that was the first place we looked when we lost ignition on an entire bank.

    It was an interesting drive home. The misfire started 5 hours from home in the Gods middle of nowhere. It would run at between 3200 and 3700 rpm with light throttle. Above or below that I would loose the rear bank and the engine temp would drop...of course little power and very bad gas milage...but IT GOT ME HOME!!!!
