I guess I have had so many Ferrari's over the years, that I don't need to yell, 'boy racer' anymore. I would even rather have an 'off color'. The CS's stance and body mods give it a great look with or without the stripe, and I could care less if some stranger that I am passing on the road can't figure out that it's a 'special' car... I know it is! btw....... great looking car!! Did you get it from Wide World?
if my deal concludes as planned, i will be getting one with stripe within 10 days. frankly i like the stripe. the car is not subtle. you cannot escape notice by anybody - i have other cars for that purpose anyway. so why not wear the stripe? its like saying you are dating this outrageously famous hottie, but you dont want her to wear a bikini at the beach?? anyway, to each his own.
no it's like saying you are dating a hottie and you want to put something on her. It's best when the hottie Wears NOTHING at all great cars can be subtle and beautiful at the same time. no stripe required imho
I think the rosso scuderia CS looks better with the stripe...but in other colors it looks better without it. The CS promo video and poster featured a tdf with no stripe and rosso scuderia with the stripe. As a side note it's interesting that far more Scuds were made with the stripe than without it. Not many wanted a subtle Scud I guess.
Here’s some interesting info on the CS market and certain cars in particular. Remember CS #136348 that was storied and for sale at Scottsdale Ferrari? An Fchatter purchased it and after discovering “story” he returned it. Well they wholesaled it and now it’s at Ferrari Honolulu. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139317727&postcount=313 http://www.jnexotics.com/detail-2004-ferrari-360_modena-challenge_stradale-used-5533257.html TDF CS #136834 (former Fchatters car) that was at Ferrari of Long Island sold last week and now for sale at Exotic Motors Midwest http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-636-235-2455-360-Challenge-Stradale-TDF-Blue-Beige-RARE-Serviced-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aa1267489QQitemZ320531231881QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks#ht_3751wt_1167 Red striped CS #138533 (blk leather w/ red steering wheel) that had some “work done” was recently offered by The Collection in FL and is now listed at guess where?? Scottsdale Ferrari. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139501890&postcount=179 http://www.scottsdaleferrari.com/detail-2004-ferrari-360_modena-challenge_stradale-used-5497944.html Yellow CS #137899 that sat at Sports Car Co. in La Jolla for over a year is now at Ferrari of Denver. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=263530 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139581963&postcount=26 Red CS #134391 with rear wing and painted calipers that was FSBO is now listed at Autosport International in CA. http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchDetails.aspx?itemid=744542 http://autosportint.com/details.html?VID=1-218l1273341361 These things are definitely making their rounds...
It's like all the car dealers throw their cars into a hat and whomever pulls the car out puts it on their website Nice Work Stokpro Still not many selling if any it appears
None are truly "selling", most are getting shuffled between dealers. Do dealers make any money when they wholesale? I've heard many stories of dealers passing on selling to an end user to only wholesale the car for LESS later. Never seemed to make sense to me, but I'm not in the car business.
sometimes they negotiate deals between themselves for certain inventory even if sold at a wash. otherwise, selling the car at break even or even a slight loss is better than the negative carry on a warehouse line of credit....looking at those pcis of my CS, i miss TDF!!! Not that I am considering a switch back. Love the Scud too much but could see the use in having both in the garage. 430 Scud and a 458 Scud would be nicer for me though
Excellent work Stokpro. Dealers shuffle cars around between each other to "freshen" the inventory, although that doesn't work as well with high-end cars in the internet world. Besides, shipping a CS to Hawaii is not going to clear up its tainted past. They offer a free look at the Car Fax which says no damage history. Another reason to trust Car Fax only if it DOES list damage history, because then you can be fairly sure it is accurate. I like how the Scottsdale listing says "IMMACULATE CAR FAX". Sure the Car Fax is immaculate...but the car isn't. Lying by omission is still lying. The Denver car is still Ronald McDonald's ride, even though it is no longer in CA.
quick question guys. cs black with the terrible it flag painted on. Where are we thinking this is a good at ? i was thinking 90k. Throw a wrap on it. Drive it a few thousand miles. I think there will always be a market for it sub 90-80k with 40+ miles on it when i am ready to bump up to the scud in the next say 2 years. let me know what you think.
If the car is good who cares about the paint. wraps are 3k. Hell painting it would only be 15k probably. I know nothing of the story of that car but why not play with it for a while. That dealer must want that thing gone. It's been a year plus.
Some dealers will swap cars that have been sitting too long. If they can agree on value, it is to their mutual benefit to rotate stock. Also, some cars are shown as "sold" and reappear at a dealership owned by the same parent company; Penske as an example.
90k is about right. It'd be a gone already had the owner left it rosso corsa instead of dropping $18k to paint it black w/ the flag. There's another Fchatter interested in buying that puppy to make it a full on track car that he can also legally drive on the street.
I've seen that ruse employed by many dealers. I recall this past December when Scottsdale F (Penske dealer) showed Fchatter Challenge64's CS as "sold" when in fact he decided to keep it.
Our inventory software has two display functions for vehicles that are no longer in our inventory, Sold or Pending. I also have the ability to delete. Marking the vehicle as 'Sold' or 'Pending' on our website stops it from feeding to third party websites (DuPont, Cars.com) but keeps it displayed on our website. I used to immediately remove cars from our website once they were no longer on the property, but it confused some of our customers who bookmarked the car, found it in a Google result, then returned to our site to find the car gone with no explanation. It's a technical limitation, not intent to mislead.
Bottom line, CS's appear to be dpereciating steadily. $120K for a clean, serviced non-striped car seems about right at the moment (assuming avg. mileage). Values appear to be tracking along the similar decline in Scud's. No surprise, really.
