I'm pretty sure not. I think they've all submitted the "bio" stuff and are waiting. I've got no idea what the form consists of, since they told me they'd just filled it in. I was told to expect to not spec till late summer.

If we are going to be brutally honest, many of the people who could have afforded to pay 400k+ USD in cash for a car then, can probably do so now.

If a customer gets a 599 GTO allocation will that give them a better or worse chance of getting an allocation for the Enzo replacement model to? Do they even want a V8 after experiencing 12 cylinders or will a new body design be more important than those 12 cylinders the GTO arrives with?

Not worse but not necessarily better. Ferrari decides who gets what and when. There are first tier, second tier customers etc. Just because you purchased a GTO will not necessarily qualify a buyer to get an enzo replacement. It may be a consideration but in my opinion nothing more. There are many loyal customers who have passed on the GTO but would get to be at the head of that line. As to a 12 cylinders vs. eight. Some buyers will always want to try something new regardless of the number of cylinders. Others wouldn't dream of owning a ferrari without the sound of a honest to god twelve singing in their ears.

Shame that the Enzo replacement isn't going to be offered in RHD, presumably because they won't have any trouble selling all of them anyway.

Yes. In the one to one presentation I was told every qualified dealer will get one before the end of the year. My understanding of "qualified" means that maybe the dealer in Dayton Ohio may not actually get one. Does Ohio have a dealer? Chicago,NY,LA oh yeah. I was told we should hear something by the end of May or early to mid June from FNA.

Perfect. last december, my dealer put into writing that i would get a 599 gto. in april he sent my bio to FNA. now, he seems less unsure of my status with FNA and doesn't know when he will hear anything?

Don't think that's true. My dealer's been given three, just not clear when they are, but all 2010 orders, not sure when they'll be delivered.

Dealers have soft number and are in the cold call mode trying to figure out who is first and second and third customer. The call is something like "are you in or are you out kind of thing" to satisfy FNA requirements. I personally think they are concerned they will not sell them.

The dealer should have called you by now or by end of month to get a firm yes or no. Allocations are based partially on "absolute certain sale" numbers so I can see them saying "we don't know what allocations are" (that is kind of true) but I think that's a game because they are on the phones now and in communication with FNA. If you want one, keep calling. Where Dan360 above said his dealer has three, that is probably correct, my dealer said their offering was 2.

I think Ferrari has the right idea - keep the best for their best customers.

No way am I taking a New GTO that I could not spec prior.

Prefer to wait a year and pick it up a for 50 - 100k less.

I agree it will depreciate substantially the first year.

You would for sure be able to spec the car. The thing I think is interesting is the conversations between dealer and FNA. Even with the GTO, I think the dealers are going deep into their customer list to get buyers. I wonder what dealers are saying. The dealer is surely not going to spec GTO for the floor would they?

I think part of the problem is that Ferrari was forced to show it's future product plans too early. People know what is coming and are holding out for a future confirmed model. Remember when the Scuderia was just a rumour and the argument went - why would Ferrari go to the trouble of developing a new model when they could not supply the demand they presently had for the basic 430 version? Some people didn't think the Scuderia version would be built. The current GTO offering is visually at least little different from the standard version.

Time will tell - the dealer markup is 20% in base model. Lambo dealers are bringing in their new 475,000 special models and they seem to be selling. The difference is they are all the same spec. and my guess is the factory and the dealer discount the last models of the run.
Lambo is far more production / dealer oriented than Ferrari. Problem is the front buyers take a huge hit, maybe that is where Ferrari is headed.

    Time is telling.

Lambo sold 16 cars last month in the US.

Ferrari is laying off workers and cutting production.

The local Lambo dealer must have received some huge incentives to bring in their new limited production cars. Maybe the offer a low floor plan, either way you are correct.
Ferrari and others tried to expand their factories. The new era is too cut cost and add value versus taking on a debt that can not be serviced. I still feel Ferrari asks a lot out of their customer base. Taking production cars into the 400-500k category is pushing the envelope

IMO the money Ferrari recently spent to double productive capacity was a huge mistake.

The money that Audi put into Lambo is gone forever.

Depreciation is more of the killer than the price. If you are going charge + 300K (options&tax in) for your brand new "Starter Ferrari". The customer expects a little breathing room on the depreciation when he wants to sell. In todays market buying new is foolish and producing more of the same model over several years only dilutes your resale price further. Only the new 599 GTO as a limited run and wearing that badge may or may not give its new owner that breathing room. I'm prepared to take that chance. For the opportunity to both own and drive a very remarkable Ferrari. One that the factory has called the most extreme sports car ever built by the company.

Agreed - but the dealer might have to help a little bit, making a clean 20% plus plus.

That number represents too much play, Ferrari dealers do not have to showroom plan cars. I would rather see less production and more dealers. In St. Louis there is a pretty strong Ferrari following with no dealer, there is a service center that sells Lambo's same in KC.
