Honestly, it is about time. I could never understand the value of spacecraft that goes up, orbits a few times, then comes back down. We can do that with satellites for a fraction of the cost. Instead, we should be going somewhere. We should have a base on the moon by now and be well on our way to Mars but no, screwing around with the shuttle has set us back 30 years. I'm glad it's gone.

This thread is not a political statement, that's for P&R. If you feel so strongly about this topic try fessing up 15 bucks for Silver... then speak your piece ;)

Instead, I'm reminding those who may be interested in seeing a Space Shuttle launch that time is quickly running out.

Let's keep it light, shall we? :)

I've heard that they plan to sell the shuttles after they are retired.....minus engines of course. What's the question we all ask about used vehicles???? How many miles does she have........62 MILLION!!!!! Only one owner though.

I'm 99% sure Atlantis will relaunch as STS-135 since it will be fully prepped as STS-335 (rescue mission...launch on need). The fixed costs will already have been incurred and the variable are so little compared to what they already have on hand. :)

If Michael Jackson was still alive you know he would buy one and then turn it into a playground at Neverland Ranch. :D
