I own a 2006 orange/black 6spd Gallardo and I thought about switching sides to a Murc as it's always been the favorite car.

A local dealer has this 02 6spd for sale with the new style wheels:

My gallardo is CLEAN. Rock solid, and never a single squeak, creek, or rattle. It sometimes feels too perfect, like a well-build Audi, because it obviously is.

This Murc has the exact same mileage as mine but I have to admit, I wasn't very impressed.
The rear tires were almost toast, which I don't think makes a difference, but everytime I got on the throttle this car would rattle like a mofo. I think even the side mirrors were shaking. I can't pinpoint all the spots, but there were rattles from the dash and also from somewhere behind me. The car has no accidents or any paint work. All original. 20k miles.

Those of you that own Murc's, is this normal and acceptable? I can't say I'm a huge fan of the interior either. The stock deck feels like something out of a car audio store, the buttons are pretty plain, and the gas pedal is just plain odd. You have to use your toes and you need to lift your heel in order to go WOT properly. Idk if it's me, but the Gallardo really spoils me.

Power also wasn't very impressive. If anything, it felt slower down-low than the Gallardo. The G seems to have a ton of torque with a nice initial hit as soon as you bury the throttle, whereas the Murc feels pretty sluggish. I would have thought the extra torque from the larger displacement would be noticeable, but apparently not.

At the end of the day, the best way I can describe the two cars is that the Gallardo feels like driving with a surgeon's precision scalpel, while the Murc feels like you're driving with a chainsaw.

Any elaboration or insight would be a great help.

    Cheers,
    Adam

After owning several murci's im not a big fan of the older murci's, a LP640 is the way to go, much more responsive, easier to drive, and huge handling improvments. I presonally would take a Gallardo over a older Murci in a second. A Gallardo Spider of course:)

I believe that car has a pretty rough history and is probably not a good benchmark to judge the model by. There are a lot of improvements in the newer cars but the early Murcielagos are still a lot of fun. It is obviously important to remember that Gallardos and Murcielagos serve different purposes in the Lamborghini lineup. You shouldn't think of the Murcielago as an upgrade from your Gallardo but as a differently purposed car.

I have an '03 Murci I bought a year ago with 12,000 miles on and I've put several thousand on since then, and an '06 G spyder with 12,000 miles I've put on that I bought new. The Murci interior from that era is definitely not as nice and squeaks on mine as well, and I think the acceleration differences may be due to weight, the Murci is a big heavy car and even with some more power it takes some motivation to get the thing moving. I love both cars though, they each have their own character, but I think I'd say if you dont drive your car a lot, the Murci definitely gives you the "Lambo" experience, but if you do drive a lot, the G will be the more satisfying car overall, it's just such a great car from a driving and handling standpoint compared to the Murci. I find myself driving them about equal, but I tend to take the G if I'm going out somewhere I know I want to hit some curvy roads while I take the Murci if I'm going to a night club. LOL

    that's what I thought :

    Gallardo for driving pleasure
Murcielago to look at and be seen ...

Tires ALWAYS make a difference on a car, especially an AWD Lamborghini. One time on a previous Murci the rear inner tires were down past the tread into the cords. The car felt like it was all over the road. As soon as I put a fresh set of tires on the car, the car drove like new.

Yes, but road handling and stability is completely different from everything shaking.
Even when the car is idling at a light, if I revved it up, the whole car shook a little bit side to side and I could feel things beginning to shake in the dash.
I could rev my G and you won't feel a single bit of movement.

    I do, but it's not a Spyder ;)

It's actually for sale to make way for a Murc. 06 Arancio Borealis 6spd with black/alcantara interior.

I had a 2004 Murci for about a year and recently bought a 2009 LP640. Night and day difference. Try to find an LP in lieu of the older Murci "classic" You will not experience anything like you described.

There can be a leather rubbing noise where the instrument pod is on the dashboard. Some leather lube stops it. The springs may have a little quiet squeak.

My wife's 04 Murcielago with 10,000 miles is however, quiet.

First gear is tall so you do not have to shift before you reach 62 MPH. It has a relatively slow start from a stop. Newer models are geared for a faster standing start.

    'Still my wife's favorite car.

Heffner or Underground Racing Twin Turbo could fix that in an instant ;)

Good luck on finding a car!

Thanks for the info from you two. I am looking at an older Murci and it's good to see info from people who actually drive their car.
