I'm curious guys. The team so far is the best this year, but, they don't seem to have huge sponsors like Santander, Marlboro, and Vodafone.

On their wings, it's just the standard Red Bull livery, and some small sponsors like Puma and Pepe Jeans.

It's pretty amazing how a billionaire can run a team without major sponsors, get world class drivers, and arguably the best designer in the business to build the car.

Anyone have any idea how's their budget like?

Over $3 Billion in annual sales--they're fairly large! But it seems Red Bull spends A LOT on marketing. In addition to F1 they're in flying, NASCAR, motorcycles, X-Sports and whatever else I'm missing. They've got to be spending $500 Million on all this every year.

I think Mr Mateschitz (sp?) has turned his RB empire into a latter day cigarette company - They make *so* much money that they've got to "give" some of it away to avoid it all going away in taxes.

I guess his "cost of goods" is tiny in relation to the crazy prices people pay for a little can a sugar water.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

    It is available though?

Somewhat related, is Gatorade still unavailable in the UK? Rest of Europe? - *That*, if true, amazes me - My boys (in the UK) are 100% convinced it would be a success. Dunno why it's not.

    Cheers.

Interesting, thanks. They claim(ed?) that the only thing like it is "Lucozade Sport".

Over here, it's available just about everywhere - In huge fridges, with about 50 different kinds stacked up..... *Every* gas station and "newsagent" is practically swimming in the stuff!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Well, we have Red Bull here, but the packing of the can is entirely different. Gold cans. Very different from the ones i saw in the UK a few weeks ago.

As for the best energy drink it's 100 Plus. Here's a pic
    http://www.bevnet.com/companies/images/200811111800.100plus.jpg

There's a couple more, Gatorade, Exel Isotonic drink to name a few. It's very rare you see people drinking Red Bull over here, hence the thread i created :)

Somebody on Speed said that the RB F1 racing budget was half of SF.

Nobody spends more than SF is the presumption I suppose.

Yeah that's a very common practice tho, having different packaging for different regions. Even tastes are changed to suit the locals.

I know Fanta over here tastes nothing like Fanta in Italy.

Red Bull is a favourite here with mixed drinks but the local energy drink companies usually cost less and offer more per can.

    We have discussed this before.

I was trying to figure out how Red Bull could afford an F1 team, Soccer teams, Aerobatic teams, nascar teams, and any other teams, the markup on a can of that stuff HAS to be 10,000 percent.

Either that, or it is a house of cards just waiting to fall.

That is true today I would guess, but I know we read that Toyota's F1 budget was the biggest, until they pulled out.

the stuff tastes like crap and is retardely expensive. great marketing appears to be what it takes. either way their budget must be fairly large given how many fields they have their hands in to.

RedBull's main expense is marketing. The company itself doesn't possess the plants. Instead they own the rights to the recipe and allow for franchises to produce the beverage.

Correct, back when Toyota was around the widely toated figure of $400 million was well short of the mark.

Another thing caught me by surprise when i was in London was people used Red Bull as their mixers for whiskies. Never saw something like that over here.

From a past issue of F1 magazine:

    Ferrari: approx $450 mill USD
    RedBull:approx $200 mill USD

Money don't buy you love, nor does it appear it buys you speed. Sadly, it
does not seem Ferrari of today knows any other way. One reason they fought
the inevitable budget caps to come in a few years.

IMO, if testing were permitted, the race for the WCC and WDC will be between Ferrari, Merc, and maybe Mclaren.

It's a waste with such a huge budget, and testing is not permitted.
