Think this looks uber cool, unless you order a black one you have to do this ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is kind of like the car I saw last week on the production line being built for Valentino Rossi. It was a special giallo w/ a black top. Interior had special yellow treatment also. Very unique and certainly a standout. As is VR.
I was quoted $15176 for the bi color option. That will be about the same cost difference of a coupe and spyder
one fella here suggested an alternative..to have the top wrapped in whatever color..instead of dropping that kind of coin on a 'factory' option
Great idea- it's reversible and cheap and they make some really great quality wraps including several carbon fiber effects. At a few hundred bucks you could even experiment.
That, like the vintage paint option cost, is just dumb. A wrap is a much better choice. I am one that would rather have the car factory, but how can one even justify that? Options should be a profit margin area for manufacturers, but this is just unreasonable. Recent part prices are even worse here in the US. Someone bumped my wife's QP and left the scene. The bumper piece was $5k before painting and install. How can that be? I think Ferrari has lost sight of reasonableness. I would love to buy another new Ferrari, but now that I am faced with parts prices outside of the warranty area, I am sticking with vintage Ferrari's. At least I can justify the vintage prices due to rarity of vehicle and that most aren't currently produced.
For this kind of cash, one could have the top painted, and the whole car wet sanded, buffed, polished and made showroom perfect about 3 times.
It is ridiculous as how they come up with these prices when alternatively one could do it effectively for close to a tenth of the price.
Yeah but if you are going to have a 458 Coupe its definiely worth the cost as it makes it look totally wow
I know it is Ferrari who makes the price. But if a dealer is making 20%. 250,000 @ 20% = 50,000 My guess is they male even more on the options. it would make sense for the dealer to take the maybe buyer to a real buyer if they would toss in 25k or so of options. 325.000 @ 20% = 65,000 O profit is not the way for these dealers to go
although I love the bi-color option on a non black car - I don't think I would pay 15k for it. it would, however, be on my must have list when buying a used 458 one of these days.
From what I know: - margins are low on car sales. Not enough for them to pay bills (given the limited car allowance they have)... - margin on option business is much better. Additionally, each business get a target of min options $$ to be sold... if they don't reach them get penalized by factory. - most of money is made with maintenance, and in particular repair of car crashed / scratched.
I have seen maybe 20 different 458s in the last few days around Monaco. IMVHO black is by FAR the best exterior color choice for the 458. I'm not a big fan of the 458's front end, but in black it all seems to come together and car looks very good from all angles. This is obviously a matter of taste and it's very subjective, but for what it's worth, I think you will be very pleased with your choice
Totally agree!! But it has to be with darkers wheels too to look veeery nice! Vieni spesso a Monaco? Fede
Some new options are available through the Atelier service including the front air intake and rear diffuser in body colour. Image Unavailable, Please Login
