I was waiting for his #1 cheerleader to arrive, thanks for making it.

Honestly, even you have to admit the way he has been acting toward his team is inexcusable. *****ing at your pit crew when they screw up is one thing (Vettel) but getting pissy when they simply relay the FACT that he has brake issues is borderline ridiculous.

As I said, look at Button's situation...had that been Hamilton the *****ing and moaning would have been epic. Jenson calmly said that the car "started running hot" on the way to the grid and didn't make any further comments to the media that I can see.

One of the drivers knows what the hell he's doing when it comes to his relationship with the team and it ain't Hamilton. 'Nuff said.

I think it all depends on his personal relationship with who is on the other end of the radio. They could get along great and Hamilton's comments are just how he communicates while under the stresses of the situation, it could all be in fun, if their relationship is built up that way. I laughed when Hamilton made his comment, he and the team might be laughing also.

Hey, I was just wondering when you were going to start the "Alonso's whining on the radio" thread. Remember when he told his team guy to STFU for talking to him and distracting him? Or when he told him not to tell him about gaps to other drivers?

Since it's not just Hamilton whining, I'm sure an Alonso thread is coming!

Also, weren't you one of the folks giving Hammy crap for "overdriving" his car and leading to the failure? I noticed a conspicuous lack of any of those folks on the thread where the reason for the failure was posted. I'm sure you just overlooked it! :D

Since when is the statement "I don't need to know." considered whining?

I'm sure you hated how Alonso used to act when it came to his team. Out of curiosity where are you with the way Hamilton seems to treat his when it comes to situations like this?

Ok lets look at some facts that you are actually whining about.

A McLaren engineer radios to Hamilton: "Lewis, front brake wear high. We need you to bias to the rear or take it easy."

Hamilton replies: "We're only halfway through the race. What the hell? Do you want me to race these guys or look after the car?"

Ok lets assume he knows who he talking to, what the hell, is that rude, IMO no

Its just pure frustration on his part in not being able to get the job done.

Is the Mclaren car wearing out its brakes to quick who knows.

You obviously dont know much about Button either, he often blames the team did not set his car up right.

You picked up on this for one reason you hate Hamilton full stop its that clear.

Rubens threw a very expensive steering wheel on the track, however thats ok because you never mentioned it, now let me guess had Hamilton done it... give it up your tiresome.

We've all said things in the heat of anger that we later regret. Hamilton is human and while his ill tempered comments (like Alonso's too) are unprofessional and regretable but they are no big deal.

Apparently Hami has a problem with the radio. It annoys him. And it annoys the team, his fans, the Queen, his opponents and all the monkeys in the zoo. So...

Take out the radio. Use message boards. If he doesn't like the message he can just close his eyes in front of the pits.

If he wants to hear but not talk, ductape his mouth shut or just STFU. Problem solved. ;)

    Completely agree Steve.

*I'm not a hamilton fan by a long shot, but IMO a fair view should always tried to be given. On this forum, well actually everywhere, there's a LOT of bias and fair views are rarely given.

*****ing about a problem cause by YOUR OWN driving style (and one that is not plaguing your team mate) is a problem, but Hami's been this way for a long time...

"Often"? You'll be giving some examples, then? And does he do this during the race on the team radio?

I think this thread is embarrassing. If any of us half way through a race were told to 'back off' we would probably not have replied as well as LH did.

Not really. This is similar to LH moaning about his pit strategy in Australia '10, simply wanting to park his car in Germany '09, and now this. Shut up and drive the car.

Like I said, if you want an example of how a driver should act when his team makes a mistake then look at the article I posted about Button...

While I don't think isolated incidents of immaturity are a big deal (I.E. Vettel), Hamilton is a repeat offender.

For what it's worth, SRT Mike, I was wrong about Hamilton's wheel issue and I admit that fully, but here is what I said:
I was simply speculating because we didn't know the cause yet...just making conversation, so watch the accusations. I also think that Rubens should have had the book thrown at him for his steering wheel incident. That was ridiculous, but then again Damon was too busy with trying to get revenge on his old nemesis to care...

    Absolutely.
His car has brake problems at just over the halfway point ?!?!
    WTF !

What is notable to me is what IS NOT SAID.
You never hear the : "Hey Felipe; we need .2 secs in sector 1. Sector 2 also. What the heck let go nuts Sector 3 as well.. Come on you can do it . We know you can..."

    Know why ?
Cause LH does not have to be told or persuaded to go balls out. Its already built in and a given.
They tell him when to slow down.

SRT Mike, you are the endless apologist for Hamilton. You give him a pardon for all issues.

    Complete double standard.

Steve and Mike right on the money both of you guys are absolutely right. I have said it before and got hell, but I will say it again. Hami rules, absolutely rules, this was one race where he wasn't as exciting as previous races. The guy is on the limit and is an absolute pleasure to watch. If his personality is coming out, it is because he says what is on his mind during some red mist moments, so what. Hope the championship comes down to Hami and Alonso instead of the Red Bores!

    kraftwerk, I agree with you.

I have often been quite tough on LH. But the guy has proven his nerves in some pretty tough situations--and he has "grown up" in the public light--being a racer from pre-teen years. Anyone in the spotlight this long is bound to make some human mistakes, as he is never out of the public eye.

Athletes who want to win badly often voice frustration when circumstances beyond their control have adverse effects on their performance. Think of the basketball players who yell at teammates to play harder. Think of footballers who urge--sometimes not too tactfully--their teammates to be better. In a lot of team sports we would call this leadership--pushing the team to be better.

Hamilton's reaction was an honest one--borne of the frustration of wondering why the brakes were wearing thin. Given Jens' problems--a blocked duct--he could have easily thought a similar mistake had been made.

All F-1 drivers have an ego. Let's just get used to it.

And, when we want to get critical of Hamilton, let's do it over something big--like driving the rear tires so hard that he punts the car on the way into the pits.

I agree as well. This thread is kinda ghey. I guess a guy isn't allowed to be competitive and voice some frustration over the possibility that his chances of winning are over. And how was the comment actually directed toward the team??

For anyone that really does watch F1 consistently, this is NOT a big deal at all. they all have frustration during the races. I remember Hamilton's crew had a tire change problem in the pits I think 2 years ago, and lost 1st position for it. And on his way back out he came on and said "what the hell was THAT guys??!!!"

I think some levity is given to these guys cause they are under probably MORE stress than anyone on the entire team (after all, their life is in the balance at all times). Plus, it sounds more like a personality trait of Hamilton more than anything else, knowing how he normally speaks on the mic...

I think unless someone comes on and says "you guys suck, I can't drive this piece of ****" there really is no issue here. The OP is just nitpicking cause a guy doesn't sound like the Duke of Yorkshire at 190mph...
