Are you sure? The remote I ordered from Remote Superstore was described as FCC No. 156-V1 (0621) and it clearly has the filter in it for a Euro frequency.

The chip I cloned will work when soldered in my original remote, but not in the one from remote superstore. I need to exchange it for a 315MHz version.

Does anyone know what the numbers in parenthesis mean on the remote superstore website (0621 in the example above).

Gobble- The number in parentheses is just a stock number. How did you discover the freq was off? Most people do not have freq spectrum scanners.

From the number on the SAW filter (with Eric's help). It's the big round thing just under the battery.

Got it. I think between all of us we will eventually have the system completely mapped. As a former AF EWO, the ops end has always been my specialty. With you three doing the electronics piece, we can pretty much explain to anyone what their options are. Reading the PROMs and understanding them is the next step.

Kudos to you guys. When you've got everything down pat, I would love to be your first customer! It would be great to have a source without having to send it to France. No offense Eric...

The guy at Remote Superstore offered 20% off if we come up with an order of 3 or more remotes. I wouldn't mind having one more for myself. Anyone else interested?

Both red fobs arrived today from Eric and both work perfectly. Two more to go and we will have a full set of spares and the ability to produce more. Still need to figure out the PIN and ID digits.

The part number on the little filter itself? I believe there are many. R2622 and RP1239 are 315MHz. R2632 and P1308 are 433.9 MHz

I've now successfully cloned a black fob. Received the US spec version of the remote from remote superstore this week. It's actually pretty easy with the right equipment and guidance. If anyone wants one done in the US I'd be glad to help.

Gobble- Way to go. Stay in touch with Eric for some other developments on the fob front. Here is the latest version of the fob programming document, including the SAW filter information for identifying whether a fob is 315Mhz (US) or 433.9Mhz (Euro).

Eric, I am in the process of buying two remotes (USA model). I have two customers with one black remote, they want an extra one each, please PM the cost of the service.

    best regards

I forgot to mention that I tried converting a Euro spec FOB to a US spec FOB several weeks ago by simply swapping the SAW filter and that alone didn't work.

I've read through this but i'm still a bit confused...

I have one black FOB, and I have the 4 digit pin...

Am I still SOL? Is my only option to have one of these guys "clone" my FOB? I don't know how comfortable i'd be sending my ONLY fob away.... I've had several fedex packages go missing...

Your car is probably laid up for several months in the winter

That would be the time to send you fob for cloning since even if its lost you can use the PIN to de-immobilise the car to get it to the dealer for them to sort new fobs if necessary

You could also buy the equipment to do it yourself. That's what I did. Cheaper to fedex your remote though.

Bobby- If you have the PIN, the dealer should be able to sell you a new set of 3 fobs with new PIN for $550 or so. Make sure you can start your car using the PIN and key alone. If you can do this, you can program your Alarm ECU to accept the three new fobs and new PIN yourself. A five minute job.

Erik and I may be able to do better than that price in the near future, but for now the dealer is your best bet.

Here is the latest version of the programming document. You cannot hurt your car or affect the alarm system trying to start the car with the PIN and key alone, but it will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling of confidence.

I have a client close to me who is providing a remote cloning service. He can also provide individual remotes and will record your code so he can make copies in the future without your remote.

I would be interested in the cloning option too - I have the black remote and the code.

Thanks to a UK guy (Jos) I had the opportunity to make a test with a Ford remote. It shares the same design and uses the same components than the Ferrari ones. After the transplant of the content of my remote, it worked OK on my car.
Those remotes are an alternative, may be cheaper ... though the Ford logo is not so sexy!
In a leather pouch, nobody will know and it will do the job.

Eric- In the US, the 1997 Ford Explorer (an example) used the RK 112 as an option, but I have had no luck finding one so far. Guess I need the Ford part number for a 315 Mhz version.

I've successfully cloned a black fob onto a Ford fob, without removing the EPROM from the board.
This was done with a Willem EPROM Programmer from SIVANA, connected to the tiny 93C46 chip with a POMONA 5250 SOIC-clip.
The chips can be read from and written to without desoldering them from the board, provided pins 6 and 7 on the clip are not connected to anything. And remember to work in 16 bit mode!!

Where did you buy the Ford fob? Euro spec only?
