Point is not the cost. Point is the value. Paint is paint and it can easily be done after sale at a fraction of the cost

The pics are from the Atelier service, not the online configurator. There are a whole raft of new personalisation options for the 458 and California that have just been released though not all of them are available for the US market. Your dealers should have this info.
I'm glad you see the point I was trying to make earlier. In the early 90's The NSX offered the bi-color option at NO cost. You can get a bi-color option on the Ford Flex today for $395
What a rip-off. $15K for a different color of paint on the roof? You could get a much better quality paint job on the roof for a fraction of the price. There will be some nice discounts on used 458's. Let someone load up $60K in options and get them for pennies on the dollar. $15K black roof is an instant loss of $15K come resale.
I think it will take more than 1 yr to even see any significant number of 458s in the States. I am probably around number 5 to order at the dealer and my car won't be here till October. The 4-5 month delay between order and delivery tells me that there won't be that many a year from now to create much of a used market. And when I was at the factory two weeks ago there really were not that many 458s on the line. I believe production has not yet ramped up. It will be a while before there is much availability of used US 458s IMHO.
I'm going out on a limb and predicting the bi-color option will be standard on the 458 Scuderia. I think Ferrari are pricing this way so we will have a high perception of value when they make it standard equipment
Interesting. My order was in MODIS 03/24/2010 and has a delivery date on MODIS of 06/11/2010. Sheet also shows a factory order number. Maranello however has not come back with the production code. It seems most unlikely they will meet the June date. Does anyone have the sequence of production codes to interpret. Thanks

Gary, My dealer told me that it would be a 4-5 month lag between order and delivery. I would guess that since you ordered in March you were the first on the list to order. I think you car will be a July delivery......just going on what I was told by the dealer. I figure October since the factory closes for 3 weeks in August. My order will go in before the end of the month.......again what I am told. At least I am ready and know what I want.
SCantera I think you are the only one in Naples who has ordered one as far as I know. I want to see it when you get it!! =)
