I like to read your upcoming purchase thread of your 599 gto as much as i did with your 599 HGTE.

I spoke today to one of the biggest classic and modern car dealers in Europe. He is a very wealthy and highly respected gentleman who's owned some of the most important classic cars in the world (including 2 Aston DB4 Zagatos, various 250 SWBs, Enzo, various Bugattis, 959s, F40s, 288 GTOs, 275 GTB/4, Daytona Spider etc) and still has one of the nicest personal collections of classic Ferraris I know of.
Back in September, when I pre-ordered my 599 GTO, he told me I was wasting my time... I was really disappointed as I respect his opinion tremendously. Today he called to say that he's been to see the car and has ordered one for himself. He believes it is a terrific Ferrari and a great ownership proposition.

I must say I was very very surprised... High praise indeed from one of the all-time greats in the car world!

If he doesn't own an F50 I wouldn't trust him too much :)

Just kidding :D It seems that anyone who has driven it has nothing but fantastic things to say about the GTO.

Funny, I had a similar, though slightly different experience--only with a friend/serious collector that now lives on the West Coast. He's had a number of very significant Porsche's and Ferrari's over the years.

He was dubious of the car using the GTO name. Dubious that any 599 + (as he called it at the time) would ever have enough pedegree to be valuable over long term. Even dubious that the performance would be anything truly special.

In the last couple weeks he's seen the car, listened to presentation and apparently done a bit more research. His response now is: I'd like to talk seriously if/when you consider selling it--as long as its not yellow or another weird color. :)

It ain't gonna be--but then I'm not guaranteeing I'll ever sell it either!

So much for all 599 being sold out! Either that or they will produce more than 599

He took a cancelled slot 2 weeks ago...I believe his car is coming in 4-5 months

In any case I don't think the GTO is sold out worldwide yet

A low mileage (2000km) yellow 599 has been sitting unsold at the dealer for many months now.
Advertised as the only yellow one in the country...

I configured a yellow one on the ferrari site. Black wheels, matte black roof, black alcantara and yellow special contrasting stitching...it looked GREAT! Just make sure you paint the exhaust black as well when you get it...IMO of course.

Why looking to resale the car, i think this car is for the most buyers a keeper. Take the color you want. Yellow is awesome. In europe there are a few 599 in yellow and i think it's the best color!

That was his way of gigging me...re: my 430 is yellow. :) I love the color on this car, just hadn't seen one on a 599 GTB that yet worked for me.

However, looking at the pics of the GTO above with the top in matt grey and dark wheels, its very nice, aggressive and balanced.

Personally I think Yellow looks better on curvier cars like Dino's and 275 GTB's.

    You're right!
Maybe because earlier cars are... more massive!
A Yellow 275 GTB, that is wonderful!
For a 599 I like in Blue TDF/Blue Scozia, with Bordeaux leather!

    ????? Even a Daytona looks like an under-nourished midget beside a 599

Wow... seeing it in the wild makes it look much better than the photo-doctored pics... they really should just leave the doctoring out... it never captures my attention
