Spoke to a dealer today, this could be happening soon I'll consider it an early BDay gift to myself LOL Was also considering maybe an RR Phanton since they are both about the same $ I'll have to test drive both Although the Phantom can wait for my 50th BDay, I can always rent 1 of those if I have to
One thing that I would do before buying the SPF version of the Ford GT would be to see if it were large enough for me or not. I'll bet that for many this alone was the deciding factor between the SPF and the new Ford GT. If money were no object, I'd have both, as it is, I have neither.
NSXer drove his new SPF 1500 miles from the factory to the midwest and reported no issues. They can be outfitted with HVAC. RMX
WILLIAMH...... Good call bud......it's one cool car (in my preferred color choice as well) with the correct "provenance and pedigree" to go along with it....... As a footnote.......I turn 50 tomorrow........and the only thing I am buying is a bottle (or two) of Moet.
Happy BDay I somehow doubt the GT is tighter than an F40 Gonna go visit the car this week for a test fit
I have a tall torso, and 6'2" and fit well. 3 hour drives don't drone, and don't leave me sweating... I do have to tilt my head while shutting the door.
Here is the one I have for sale 05 Ford GT white/black with blue stripe 1900 miles on her, 3 of the 4 options accepting offers Wade Image Unavailable, Please Login
This could be the best looking car on the market... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-FORD-GT-BLACK-BLACK-STRIPE-DELETE-ONLY-1-000-MILES-/120566060837?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c124c1725
The painted wheels and mirrors are cool. He also painted the brake calipers "Gulf Blue". I'm not crazy about the stickers, however. William, I think your personality will fit in great with the Ford GT Forum. Very nice guys over there. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wonderful cars. I looked at an SPF GT40. Unless you're 5'5 I doubt you would be able to fit in one. I'm not bagging on them but you are comparing a kit car to a factory auto when considering investment potential. I'm 6'2 and fit very comfortably in a GT. http://fordgtchannel.com/images/GTP40.jpg
Im 6'1 and my head hits the headliner...and no way with a helmet on for a track day, and I did hit my head on the door on the way out also! If it would have fit better, I would have bought one, the dealer said they could have lowered the seat but id rather have something stock that fits...
++1 4 years and 5,000 miles later, it is still the best thing on 4 wheels I have ever driven. 0 maintenence costs, great air-con, and 1,800 rpm at 80mph gets you 24mpg. Dead even with a friends Murcie from 20-100, and pulling so hard at the top of 3rd at 135 that I got scared and lifted while doing my first .4 mile runway run. 11.7 quarter is plenty fast for me.
If you adjust the seat to recline the back while slightly moving the seat forward there is plenty of room to spare. The seating and cockpit was designed to the proportions of a driving dynamics engineer that is knocking on 6'4, and he drove the car with a helmet on for literally thousands of miles. The biggest guy on our forum with a stock seat I know of is about 6'6. It's obviously going to be more comfortable for a guy that's 5'10, but 6'1 should have been no problem.
