    Hello dear Japan F-Chatters,

    Can one of you please tell me what this strip of paper says in Japanese? I suspect it is
    just a product copyright statement or something like that, as it does appear to repeat
    over and over.

    But is there more meaning to this message? Can you tell me what it would say in English,

    FWIW - What I recall from 2nd Grade is the pronunciation of the two inverted and backside-up "e"'s is/are "no".

    It's just a product slip for an Incense hall that sells flowers and incense. Looks like it's probably just an advert slip actually.

    I might be wrong though, since I've only been learning Japanese for 1.5 years.

    EDIT: Upon further examination, this is definitely just an advert slip.

    It reads as follows: Japanese Incense Shop 3 Ceremonial flowers everyday
    High quality products at your price.

    Something like that.

    Thank you very much! Yes, this slip of paper is out of a kind of incense I've been
    buying for years called Viva from a company called Nippon Kodo. Each bundle of
    50 sticks is wrapped in paper, and under the wrapper is this little band on each
    bundle. My friend has told me for YEARS that it's a "Buddhist prayer" and that in
    temples, the entire bundle is lit at once and when it burns down the prayer is "said".

    I have always thought it was just a copyright or product info slip - WHICH IT IS!

    Lol did you friend think they were incense sticks for dummies? I think you're supposed to light the things and say a short prayer, then stick them in the incense pile/holder. Being Christian, I'm not exactly sure, but I've seen many people do this.

    Edit: Btw, Nippon Koudou literally means Japanese Incense Shop.

    Jedi: The first line goes like this ...flower's flower/ incense (circluar character)/ Nippon Kodoh (manfacturer name)/ "mainichi koh" (meaning, daily incense) / Nippon Kodoh (repeat).
