I just realized that when viewing this thread from the main page, it's not possible to see the **SPOILER ALERT** part in the title if you're viewing on a smaller computer screen...

Could the title be changed to put the "spoiler alert" part at the beginning? I'm asking only because someone is bound to click on it who hasn't seen it and then have something traumatic occur to their brain...think Harry Potter important.

    Thanks. And sorry...

I've been following Lost for many years now. They started off brilliantly, but they're slowly fading off. The killing off most of the characters, then bringing them back, the future, going back to the past, it's all just confusing.

I still follow it though. But just like Heroes, they're losing it fast.

I've been following many series over the years. Solidly, Smallville and One Tree Hill stands out among the rest.

JJ Abrams has proven one thing over and over again with every single show/movie he makes: he can wind up a good story of various plots but has ZERO acumen when it comes to resolving a story.

That said, I only saw a few of the first episodes of Lost and stopped at the beginning of season two when they first showed the black smoke creature... if they had to resort to that so soon, then I wasn't interested (even as a sci fi buff).

Evidence #2 is the lame resolution of his Star Trek movie which again, started strong then seemed to not know where to go, then relied on a time-travel deus ex machina to conveniently resolve the ending.

Hmm...see, I really liked Star Wars. Was just really bummed about LOST. There were so many things rendered pointless in that show by tonight's ending.

Well, the whole thing was just silly entertainment.

Kate sure seemed to get around OK after being shot. Come to think of it, a lot of people seemed to get around OK after being shot, stabbed, clubbed, kicked in the head, struck by falling trees, pistol whipped, beaten to a pulp, etc, etc.

Let me be straight.. I watched the entire first season and only started again with the sixth.

I thought the ending was great, and in retrospect most of the story pointed to this. It was all about energy, not good/bad or right/wrong. It centered around Jack, which was the one constant in all seasons.

If you study the mechanics of time & space, or Buddhism for that matter, you'd get it. For the less fortunate, Lost was about being Jack's own personal "purgatory".

Hope you at least enjoyed the journey... which is what the show (nay, life) is all about.

I have purposely never watched an episode of Lost, but did get hooked on V this year. Elizabeth Mitchell, previously on Lost now on V, to me is one of the most beautiful women on television.

I loved the ending of Lost, there were a lot of questions that were left unanswered but that's how life goes. I know a lot of people are mad about the ending and a lot of people don't even really understand what happened, but I thought it was the perfect ending to the show and wouldn't have it any other way. I can't wait for the Blu Ray to come out in August!

It was interesting for the first season........often intriguing, often amusing, often creative.

THEN, somewhere in the 2nd season, it seemed to become a little too impressed with itself (JJ Abrams and writers, really).
Haven't watched it since. Haven't missed it, either.

I loved it. I didn't watch 6 seasons of LOST to find out answers in the final episode. How else could they have ended it? It was a heavily religious show that maintained many aspects of Christianity throughout, thus the "ending" of death is completely relevant and appropriate.

The island may or may not have been real, but they strongly alluded to the fact that it was with statements by Christian ("it was the most important thing you did in this life") and by showing Jack's death in the end in the bamboo forest. The flash-sideways world shown throughout the 6th season wasn't relevant in terms of time. We learned, again through allusion, that Hurly and Ben stayed on the island and worked together as protector and assistant, again incenuating that the island was in fact real and also restating the fact that time was irrelevent in alternate world. Ben stayed back to continue to atone for his actions against the group while on the island implying the possibility that maybe sideways flash world was more of a purgatory. Fairaday's mother also had a working knowledge of the sideways flash world as depicted in her conversation with Desmond at the concert, and chose to remain there so she could continue living with Daniel Fairaday. It is also a possibility that she was not able to leave. Anna Lucia is another example of someone who "was not ready" to move on. We know she took bribes as a police officer in her former life, and her willingness to do so again in the second to last episode shows she has not realized the error in her ways.

Alternate world did however ultimately end up being each characters own personal heaven. It allowed them to chose to live whatever life they wanted to live but showed that in the end, inevitable forces brought them all together again.

It was a fantastic ending to an epic story.

Thanks for explaining it like that...I knew about Jack dying and stuff and that ben and hurley stayed, but not really about the rest.

I loved the first and second season, after that it began to drop off a little and I didn't really like the ending that much.
Sawyer, Hurley and Kate were my favourite characters by far, Jack became a massive ****** somewhere in season 3 or 4, lol. Kate was great, especially running around all wet and stuff :D. Hurley and Sawyer were funny constantly and loved Sawyers one liners.

I loved it. I agree it would have been nice to have some happy ending, but that's not life. I think that was the point.
