    My thinking on this issue has evolved after inspecting a few cars, and I'm not sure in 1984 nomex was used yet, but I'm always happy to be wrong and learn.

    Bought a whole heap of Road & Track magazines today, amongst them was the August 1984 issue, the 288 GTO on the cover with the 250 GTO, that was goosebumps already but when I saw who wrote the main article: Phil Hill....in amongst the stack was an Automobile magazine, Dan Gurney driving the GTO.

    I wasnt old enough to recall the hype of the GTO, I was all of 3 months old when the GTO was launched but these articles really made me feel that hype!

    You should try and find the issue of the english magazine CAR from July 1985 (Red Leader?) where a journalist tags along to the factory for a customer delivery of his new GTO that is then driven back to the UK. The cover of that issue of CAR was shown earlier in this thread with all the magazines featuring the new 288 GTO. Lots of hype and anticipation back when the new 288 GTO was introduced.

    User jgcferrari sent me black RHD 288 GTO image some weeks ago. I sent back the 'cleaner' version, but he still don't replied me and no posts from in this thread. So I do it myself.
