Austin is looking more likely but if you read between the lines there are still a lot of details that have to fall into place.
Also I wonder just how relevant the Dallas race of 26 yrs ago is.

I too was in the state of disbelief until I spoke to a good friend that is very close to the dollars for the state. He had mentioned the project and amount the state was willing to commit several months ago - saw it as wishful thinking - like getting the Olympics in Austin.... pipe dream.

Yesterday, my mind was swayed after he explained the evaluation process and it isn't just about the race track and F1 - but a much bigger project that has been "very well thought out and could give Austin international recognition..."

What Dave is describing echoes what I heard, remember Austin is the #1 green city in America and while also known as the Silicon Hills, it may not want to play second fiddle to California forever, so why not become the global center for green technology development..

Bold move for sure and I love it!!

See my earlier post with the Star on it..or Google Lost Pines Resort.

It's farmland east of Austin and west of Bastrop.

Speedmoore is off of the appropriately named Airport Blvd,. on the east side of Downtown.
I have bullet hole in my Toyota from one trip to talk to him!!!

I am starting to believe in this. The idea that the people in Texas want to expand Austins appeal is very logical. Raising the cities profile on an International scale can be seen as a win for the entire state. They have tons of oil money from the rest of the state but need a spot to attract other types of business. Houston and Dallas can do the good old boy Texas Tea party and Austin can do the multi-national look at me party. I will be at the U.S. Grand Prix In Austin Texas in 2012. I'm sure Indy is a fine city but I didn't ever want to go to the GP there. Much prefering Canada. Indy's ties with Nascar and the IRL ruined thee feeling for me. Even if Austin hosts a Nascar race on this track I will know it is about F1. I imagine The get er done attitude in Texas will make this happen with blinding speed. It's gonna be one hell of a party and I look forward to cocktails with some of the great members of FChat! Whooooohoooo!

I talked to Tony George at the Sema show. He was selling wax. The sports biggest supporter. I have to think that his love of F1 had something to do with his current situation.
