Or how about when MS blew up at Suzuka in '06, effectively ending his WDC hopes that year? Instead of storming off into the garage, he went around to all the crew in the pits and gave them a pats on the back/hugs. It was a pretty awesome display of sportsmanship/class...

Yes I remember him well storming into his garage and throwing his helmet full force to the back of his garage, yes it was filmed.

or when the spotlight of controversy focused on him. .... as Schumacher angrily threw his steering wheel at a mechanic..

Or having a go at DC because he crashed into him, yes lovely that, take yer blinkers off pal.

    Here watch it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsfQScvC5oI

DC was an absolute fool to be toodling around on the racing line in a wet race in a damaged car...he could have killed MS doing that garbage. Also, care to provide the link for the helmet/steering wheel throws? I have never seen them.

So you can come up with three instances in MS's whole career (almost 20 years) where he had a temper (rightfully so with the DC incident) yet he has never insulted/degraded his team for the public to see. If the team told him he had a problem he didn't complain and dealt with it like a racer. I can't recall MS EVER whining to his team on the radio about a decision they made and then going to the media and complaining even more. Who in their right mind would do that? What an embarassment.

Obviously MS isn't F1's cleanest racer ever but when it came to his team he treated them like family. The reason I brought up the engine explosion in '06 was to illustrate this, but then again it appears it went straight over your head (not surprising).

    Cheers!

Actually Steve, the helmet throwing incident wasn't directed at the team. IIRC he was angry about brain-dead Montoya, a lap down, taking him out of the lead of the Monaco GP during a safety car period. Probably shouldn't have vented in his own garage but he wasn't blaming the team.

I don't remember him throwing a steering wheel at his own mechanic. Which race was that?

The DC incident IMO was tame. You never slow down that hard in no-visibility conditions like that when there's a car on your ass. Very dangerous. I would have shot him personally...

I'll admit he was a bastard at times to his competitors. However he was always loyal to his team and didn't air the dirty laundry.

Having said that, I do believe this whole Hami radio thing is being blown way out of proportion. There are far worse things a driver can do to his team. Like happily using stolen information and then turning it over to Max after being granted immunity for instance... ;)

IIRC the team radios were still encrypted back then and we didn't get to hear anything from Ferrari. Not saying MS would have been whining but I'm sure things were a bit less PC when the drivers knew it was still private.

Aye up John hows you doing..:)
I read about the steering wheel one, it wouldn't surprise me though I don't call out any driver for kicking off its to be expected these guys are giving it there best.

The thing is I was only trying a little perspective here about Hamiltons apparent so called whining  its pathetic IMO even to even bring it up.

Montoya well I liked his guts pity his driving didn't match his mouth..:)

All great drivers can lose it.

Yup. Unfortunately the Hami-hate is permanent for some and the slightest issue will result in threads like these. But at least that means he's doing well. Otherwise they wouldn't be so mad... ;)

Hambone's endless whining over the radio as of late is a perfect insight as to what kind of man-boy he is. This is his personality unfiltered.

There are lots of man-boys in F1, none more diva than Hambone.

No, it's not any kind of perfect insight into his personality unfiltered. That's just your predisposition towards the man.

So a prepared media interview is unfiltered?

He's saying what he really thinks over the radio in the heat of battle, no coaching, just pure Hambone.

I said nothing about a prepared media interview being unfiltered. I am speaking more towards your predisposition towards the man vs any real gauge of the actual man given that neither of us knows him. That you can't even use his name properly speaks volumes of your childish mindset.

I have observed Hamilton in F1 very closely over the last few years (impossible to miss him), just as any other fan has. After you watch someone in action and see them in dozens of interviews, you start to see consistent patterns. Patterns like general arrogance, insulting your own team in public and over the radio, etc. Do I have to hang out with H-A-M-B-O-N-E on a 2-week Swiss Alps ski retreat before I can say I have any opinion of his character?
