Nice maneuver by Porsche Cayenne to avoid potential fatal accident

Man, what was the Silver car doing? Looks like it tried to cause the problem. The first hit you can call an accident, the second.....

That was some amazing avoidance maneuvering! It wasn't initially the truckers fault, but he should have been going slower.

 

wow. thats amazing handling. impressive.

 

I don't know what was wrong with the truck but those things should be speed control to about sixty miles per hour and SUVs to about the same.

 

I think most of the truck's problem was the sedan driving into the side of it...

Thats a pretty ignorant stance... I agree with you and Multi axel vehicles... but SUVs... come on... most SUVs can out brake and out handle most cars built prior to 1995...

 

I can't say enough good things about the Cayenne. It is a testament to the unbelievable technical abilities at Porsche. For an SUV weighing over 5000 lbs, with a two speed transfer case, its performance envelope is unbelievable. When my Mom was looking to move into an SUV a few years ago, I strongly encouraged her to look into a Porsche because I felt the cars handling characteristics made it safer than other similar SUVS.

Having driven them in all sorts of conditions, I can say that there on road and off road performance is mesmerizing. The brakes are RIGHT NOW, the acceleration is brisk, and you can actually put this thing in a four wheel drift and not end up on your roof. Oh, and when we got snowed in a couple of years back, the Porsche made it up my driveway while my Land Rover LR3 spun its wheels and slowly slid back down.

IMHO, the Cayenne is the best SUV on the market, Period. I have driven just about all of the luxury SUVs out there and I can't think of any that could perform what was seen in the video while still having the incredible on road and off road abilities of the Cayenne.


Kudos to Porsche. They have done for the SUV what the 911 did for sports cars.

 

The Cayenne seems like it can defy the laws of physics. Other SUVs would have just rolled over and been bathed in Pepsi.

That crash took place just a few miles from my house. Center median is still damaged.

 

Joe, I couldn't agree with you more. I've had my S and a GTS on NJMP and they just amazed me and most of the people could also not believe how well they handled !! PLUS TURN 2 is nice and visible when you are up a little bit higher....

 

The guy or gal that dodged the bullet was the dark car in front of the Porsche. Very close to getting a lapful of tractor trailer. Still ended up hitting the center divider, but was very very lucky.

Also seems to be a over reaction on the part of the truck. Car should have just bounced off of the front of the truck and the truck track straight down the road to the shoulder. Trying to swerve a truck around like you are going through slalom cones is never a good idea.
