Dealer is quoting for 2 Bridgestone Tires + Mounting, Balancing, & Alignment $1,850.00 (saying that Porsche would pay for the front).

I feel like im paying for the front too.

Tirerack quotes $1200 for all 4 tires without Mounting/Balancing and Alignment.

    Crazy isnt it?

Michelin are in back order and apparently wont be available for months. So i have to switch all 4 to another brand and the Bridgestone are what dealer suggested.

Im thinking og buying them and having a Firestone Care center fit and align them.

in that case, go with the Bridgestones. I had the Pzeros on my car and didn't like them.

and buy from Tire Rack :)

Yea, Tirerack and then check out their authorized install places that usually have quotes. Have them sent directly there. Just make sure it isn't some Mickey M install place. Or, just use a place you're familiar with. The P dealer pricing is in the stratosphere on most things and there's a lot of suckers that'll pay it unfortunately.

    report back with your experiences

I checked tire rack and indeed, PS2's are on back order (though only the rear tires, and no time frame given). interesting.

are these for a CGT or similar?! Ask you dealer if he'll match or come close. Many dealers do. Why do you need an alignment? Also try Sumitomo htz III. I like them. GL

Andrew thats a ridiculous price irregardless of mounting/balancing and alignment. I just picked up 4 new PZero Corsas for 1800 delivered through Tirerack! You don't even want to know what Dealer asks for the same.

Thanks guys. Im going with Tire Rack.

The dealer actually emailed me back saying they made a mistake and the price is actually..wait for it....2 tires plus mounting, balancing, and alignment $1380.00 + tax.

Still more expensive than ALL 4 tires at tire rack.

Why do you need an alignment?

They're trying to rip you off badly.

    In Italy 4 Pirelli 20 inch tires for a 599 + alignment/set-up/camber is around 1400 Euros.

You should go to your dealer with the tirerack prices printed out and tell them that the prices they're quoting you are unacceptable. Can't you buy the tires from tirerack.com and have them sent at a dealer or tire shop for installation?

I always call Tire Rack first. Then sometimes the local tire place will quote me something more reasonable.

Just be glad you don't have runflats. On my Audi TT, I was quoted about $1800 for the set of 18-inchers ... from Tire Rack. :(

If you want to get ripped off buy tires from a car dealer.

Tire Rack is usually the only way to go.

FWIW the Porsche dealer is probably trying to sell you their ultra expensive N0 or N1 "Porsche spec" tires made by a few manufacturers especially for Porsche. Crap IMHO........

If you are going to get an install at somewhere besides the dealer, you should take a set of 4 pucks, either real hockey pucks or the aluminum ones with the oval projection so the car can be jacked safely.

A customer of mine wanted a set of Nittos for his Cayenne Turbo, and the parts department said that we couldn't sell them (even though we could get them). I'm not sure exactly what the arrangement with Porsche is on that. He did order the tires elsewhere and brought them in for installation.
The dealer that I work for also has a Tirerack account, so I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to price-match.

    Tim........

Our local P-dealer is verboten from selling anything that does not come thru official "Porsche" channels......including tires. Of course, if you bring "any" part in to them they will install it.....they just will not sell it to you. Tires from Tiretack usually undercut them by 50%........and the minute difference between NO an N1 spec rubber is functionally irrelevant as I can't cruise for 15 minutes at 175 MPH where I live.

I dropped my car at Autowerks and had 4 Hankook tires mounted, balanced and aligned plus brake flush for less than $1200.

And I just paid $380 installed for 4 Sumi HTRZ2's for my 944 turbo. Getting harder and harder to find matched sets for it though. Those 205 17s in the front aren't made by many companies.

    Tell me about it!

Great choice! I really wish Hankook would design RFT's.
