Alarm Problem - Annoyed!

My 360 spider's alarm is very touchy, and starts very often.

Problem is, I cannot make it stop aging?
The car has no problem unlocking the doors and I can even start the car and drive with the alarm siren on.

Is there a trick to make the siren stop?

BTW. Already done a search but could not find any answers.

Most likely the alarm siren battery is going dead or leaking. There is a do it yourself fix that involves taking out the siren and soldering a harness to the circuit board that would allow you to replace the battery with a commonly found 7.2v NiCad or NMh battery. Search for alarm battery and you will likely find the thread on that. If the job sounds too daunting, you can get a replacement siren from forum sponsor Ricambi and replace the siren yourself, or have your dealer or independent tech replace it.

 

N4S is correct and some owners have replaced the internal rechargable battery with an external rechargable battery. In most of those cases, though, the Alarm Siren just quit working. Yours sounds like the internal battery has been leaking and is shorting out circuitry. In that case, I would just replace the siren unit. Here it is on Ricambi's site and Eurospares should have an equivalent price in the UK. If not, Ricambi will be very happy to mail it to you in the UK.

Your description does not sound like a battery problem. It sounds more like a bad inclination sensor. Diagnosis on an SD2 would be definitive.

 

Brian- Makes sense, but I would never have thought of that. Keeps people from rolling it on a ramp or towing it away with the alarm armed.

The good security systems have them. The Bosch units go bad from time to time and self trigger.

 

Thanks for correction, Brian. I do wonder, however, why, if the inclination sensor was bad and giving a false "tamper" signal, the car would still start? The OP said he could drive with the siren going. Or maybe the immobilizer is separate from the inclination or other tamper sensors?

 

I honestly do not recall if that is the norm or not. The good thing is the system memory has a good recall of trigger causes and should be easy to figure out.

 

I have experienced this constant beeping and can drive the car whilst the beep is emitting.

I'm researching this issue and noticed there doesnt appear to be any closure to this thread, what did i_love_cph figure out?
