Wow, lovely shots. The Photoshop pump is way over the top but works really well on these shots. Nice.

Yellow is quite a nice color for the 458.

The black looks much better as here with the lighter wheels rather than the all black look as poster elsewhere (way too pimp my ride with the black wheels) but they should have gone with the silver calipers. The reds stick out like a sore thumb.

Interesting observation about the wheel color since both the Scuderia and 16M were presented by Ferrari with dark wheels...
The standard look for the Scuderia wheel is a gray that looks almost black in certain light situations. The 458 'dark' wheel color is a different gray from the 430 shade used by the factory.

i too am not crazy about the black wheels treatment...much prefer the look of plain ol silver or a lighter gray to go with the Nero body. also, another consideration as you mentioned...since the spokes are thin and the wheel so large...calipers in silver or black would do nicely... sigh, one can dream:)

I think it's just that 'all black' thing really. I would probably have liked it early to mid '80s, would have thought it looked really 'cool'. Now it looks about as cool as shoulder pads and big hair and all a bit like that tacky after market stuff you see in the back of the magazines. Do like the black paint though, but I bet it's a bîtch to keep clean.

It's funny, I'd never noticed that until someone mentioned it here. Now all I see are coloured calipers. I guess once you've seen something you can't un-see it.

Maintaining the 'optics' of Ferrari paint has become a career for some enterprising individuals. Years ago a Saturday morning wash and wax was sufficient. Now the standards have been raised with 'detailing' the car. It is all done to amazing effect by some talented individuals. I agree black would demand regular attention in a way that perhaps gray or white cars would not.

Right. And the problem is that it only works if it's near spotless.
