I seem to remember Jim saying something earlier to the effect of: "my days of driving in anger are behind me, so we're hiring a 'ring driver instead".

Certainly, I think for the car to perform to its potential, you'll need someone who drives that circuit constantly and knows the Nurburgring like the back of their hand.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Are you nervous at all Jim? I always feel funny even when parted from my car long enough for a service, let alone some pretty serious surgery.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    Jim,

I apologize if this has been posted before, but is this a photoshop/computer rendering, or have you actually made those modifications? It's beautiful and I wish you the best of luck with this project. :)

    Jim,
How long will the car be gone? I would think for the rest of the year. This thread is great!

    Hi Jim,

Those PS images are amazing. Being that the hard points on an F430 and an Enzo are so different (at least they're mid-engined). I imagine quite a bit of work to fit the design of the P4/5 onto the F430 chassis. I'd love to see the process. Might we be lucky enough to see any pics of that process here? Or will this be top-secret to keep an advantage over other teams?

Just got back from a very interesting trip. We visited L.M. Gianetti who will be building
P 4/5 Competizione. Veronica looked good sitting in their Porsche Panamerica Race Car.
We were very impressed with thier facility. Our Scud, GT2 and spares will be there this week.

We then headed to a small town that has built monuments for hundreds of years. They have a famous Design School and are known for their "Slow Food". They have restored an Ancient Church and added a modern addition which will house relics and be a center for concerts, exhibits and gatherings. P 4/5's full scale styling Model will be living in the Church.

We then went to Modena and visited the Artisans who are restoring 002C. They are doing an incredible job and when done she will be very special and look as she did when she won the 1947 Turin GP driven by Raymond Summers. We were taken to a wonderful Balsamic Vinegar farm and sampled 25 year old Vinegar and left with two bottles. We then flew to Sicily and picked up our Yellow Fiat Dino.

We drove the Targa Florio and headed to the sea. We visited a friends winery and ate a six hour lunch. We also drove our Ferrari 208 GTB Turbo that we bought from Nino Vacarella.

What a trip and what an adventure this will be.

Meeting soon to determine Tires, Drivers etc.

Great post Jim. I always look forward to your stories. Where exactly is that church? I'll be traveling through Europe in September and might try to check it out if I'm in the area.

So, I've been asking you to come to Greenwich for the past three years, and the first year I don't show up to the show, P4/5 is there... :) What luck...

Jim, I wasn't aware (by that, I mean I don't remember anything in this thread) you had a GT2 car? Is it allot of part swapping at this point? And do you have a home over there where you keep the Dino?

Friends kindly garage the Dino but we'll be bringing her to the US this summer.

We were able to buy a very good GT2 and a lot of spares. When we're done building
P 4/5 C we'll have enough left over to sell a complete GT2 for anyone who wants a great track car. We'll also be selling the Scuderia parts we won't be needing.

We're beginning the Aerodynamic Engineering which is really fascinating. On P 4/5 Aesthetics were very important and creating downforce over and above what the street suspension could bear didn't make much sense. On P 4/5 Competizione we will compromise Aesthetics to some extent as Form follows Function and we want to reduce frontal area and create even more downforce. There's a reason that LMP1 Coupes tend to look a touch awkward and similar.
