off the vin number I recieved it seems to be an S2, thats going off what was posted earlier on that the S2 cars went up to 300 in the vin. This car is 262. Am I correct on thinking this?
Now I'm lost on this car, Joe had sent me these same pictures months ago and said it was an S3. Some of the pictures look like the car is sitting higher like an S3 and some are deceivingly lower looking and if the VIN is in the 200's then it should be an S2.
If the car was perfect and needed nothing then I could see $140-$150 for an S2. With that said I could not see over $100k for this car.
I do not understand, I thought it was posted on this forum but maybe another, anyway I remember it being stated that the S1 cars should be anywhere from 250k-300k maybe a little more for a SUPER SPECIAL one maybe a little less for a not so perfect one. The S2 cars were stated to be from 180k-225k again maybe alittle more for the SUPER SPECIAL one and a little less for the not so perfect one and the S3 cars to be 170k on down depending on what kind of shape and service on the car. Is this no longer true? It seemed to be pretty agreed across the board? while on the subject, is it still agreed that the DD cars are in the S2 price range?
Educate me a little on the S3. Same body as a 5000s, Smaller carbs & a 4 liter. Same suspension, neater ac vents, but what else?
I think you are pretty much spot-on. But remember, take anything Tony or I say on prices with a grain of salt, because we are cheap.
The values at the height of market have fallen just like homes or anything else. Not to be a downer but a few cars that changed hands for top dollar in 2007 did not set the maret then and in 2010 they do not apply. A good S3 just sold for $80k... need I say more?
I do not understand why my house is worth half of what it was in 2007 (actually I do know why) so it should not be such a surprise when it happens to other commodities. Yes a DD and S2 should still be about the same, up or down.
i think your values are hi at the moment in US, at the same time i feel the 80k$ for a good S3 was a once in a while great deal (if the car mecanics are good) since few (not low bodies!) weber countah sold for close to 100k$ few months ago, end 2009, possibly at possibly the lowest pricing of US countach market believe me: i would have bought it at 80k$...i had came in time yes, DD and S2 are pretty close values imo
