Thanks for the great pictures! And it looks like I wasn't the only one who was a little offended by the presence of the Pontiac Fiero kit car. I actually started a thread yesterday with a link to my photos. Rather than have multiple threads, I'll post the link here and try to delete the first one I started: http://s280.photobucket.com/albums/k...view=slideshow If I neglected to photograph your car, please forgive the oversight: I tried to include all the Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Maseratis, and also included what I thought were some of the most interesting of the motorcycles and other car makes. If your car IS in one of the photos and you'd rather not have it in Photobucket for whatever reason, please just PM and I'll remove it. It was a great show (the kit car notwithstanding) with a lot of great people and wonderful cars. Looking forward to the Arapahoe Concours next week! ~Bradley
Hot? We are at the lake in Southern Illinois. 87 degrees and 80% humidity. That's hot. Can't wait to get back to Colorado. Thanks for the pics.
Wow that 348 with the American flag paint job brings back memories. I think I snapped a picture of that same car a very long time ago at a Ferrari meet I believe in Virginia or at Watkins Glen. I was probably 15 or 16 years old at the time so about 15 years ago and I remember thinking how awesome it looked. Any info on who the current owner is now? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fchat Mezzi-ers I saw Bradley's car but never did get to say hello to him. Alas. Also, your link just took me to the photobucket homepage and I didn't get to see your pictures! We need to update the title of the thread - this was Automezzi XX. And it was XXhot - about 95 degrees when I got back home (I live close by) so I'm sure it was approx 308degrees on the blacktop. I like the Mezzi but wish for a different location with trees and shade and soft grass. The fake Ferrari was sort of sad. some people walked right up to, but most avoided it. Tee fellow was checking in to Mezzi when I did and he seemed very nice and friendly and was totally honest - he said "I have a fake Ferrari kit car to register." No nonsense, and speaking very briefly with him it just seemed that he loves Ferraris and this is all he can afford. Now we all know that he's probably invested enough to buy a real 308 or 328 for the same price, but the whole thing was sort of odd. At the point he checked in I had only my 850 Sedan there, and never saw him once I caught a ride home and brought the GT4 over - I hope someone let him sit in and enjoy a real Ferrari. Did the 348 sound like it did bc it was running poorly, or is it so high strung that it was unable to idle? I've no experience with 348 race cars! Jonathan the Fiat RN
My last engine build I experimented using an Indy Car cam profile with the Formula 1 clutch / flywheel.... zero power below 5000 RPM but pulls like a mule past 10K RPM. Simply put it wont even idle below 3500 and that's only when at full temp. It's running pretty well right now. """Any info on who the current owner is now?""" Some dweeb in Lyons CO.
Looks like a good time! I would have loved to see the 348 Racecar! I would have been there if I wasn't in Montreal waiting for the F1 race to start
Hi, Jonathan: Sorry I didn't get to talk to you, too. Yes, the guy who brought the replica was honest about what he had. I just thought it odd that a replica based on a Fiero was out of place there. And it's a shame that he spent as much on that kit car as he would on a good 308 or 328 Ferrari. As for the link, I don't know why this happened. It worked when I posted it but today it only took me to the Photobucket homepage as well. Try this: http://s280.photobucket.com/albums/kk185/racedriver308/Automezzi%202010/ And Dave, sorry I didn't see you there. Glad to see you on Ferrarichat again; I hadn't seen any of your posts for a while. Cheers! ~Bradley
Likely right after Didier Theys was driving it in anger. The Factory and Hollywood Sports Cars built it as a no budget project with the plans of sneeking Theys into the IMSA Super Car series as a ringer while he was waiting for his 333SP to be finished. The 333 came in earlier than expected and Theys only campained it a hand full of times before going on to dominate with the 333. Upside.... he never got a chance to bend it or swap paint, downside..... there were a few systems left to get sorted out. I have now found how much cam is too much cam on a 348! The gearbox is not close enough ratio to deal with this narrow a power band for my target uses. Absolutely incredible engineering and fabrication work went in that car! A slightly more civilized engine is about to be transplanted in it now. Sorry I missed you too Bradley. My chores list was long and I didnt have much time to stay. Good to be back.
