This is in response to the Vettel hate thread. Webber was way too late in not giving enough room for Vettel. Vettel was clearly side by side with Webber and Webber didn't provide any racing room. Webber squeezed Vettel to slip a tire to the grass. Hamilton and Button clearly showed how racing is to be done. You can go double wide through the turns and battle hard without taking out your car or your oponent's. I was in great awe how Hamilton and Button were duking it out. As president of the F1 driver's association, Webber should know better. As being a more mature driver, Webber should know better. IMO, Webber was at fault. It was a racing incident but it could have clearly been avoided if Webber left enough room. I'm not saying slow down. I'm saying leave enough room. As I said, Hamilton and Button showed exactly how to race side by side. I applaud Vettel for racing hard and executing the pass. I applaud Button for also attempting to pass Hamilton. This is what racing is all about. I despise Webber for driving like an arrogant a$$.
i could see how it could be either driver's fault. vettel was ahead, but on the other hand he did turn into webber who was just driving straight. Both driver's are equally at fault IMO but that being said I'm definitely NOT a webber fan. I really wanted red bull to give him the boot and hire raikonnen to beat the pants of everyone.
So, lovespeed, you believe that drivers should be able to turn into other drivers that are driving in a straight line?
For all Aussies I say: Bugger off!! Remember lovespeed Webber was and still is leading the WDC, why should be let anybody past? Pete ps: Oh and Webber did infact leave enough room. Proven fact as Vettel was nearly passed him when he decided to turn into Webber's car. Webber played it by the book. Vettel made the mistake. If Vettel had not turned into Webber he would have got passed and probably won the race ... instead he took Webber out AGAIN.
As I saw it, Webber did nothing wrong in Turkey...and I mean the whole race. This may be a first time we really cannot blame Webber. Really.
Mr. Payne, I said "leave racing room," which means drivers should co-exist as shown by Hamilton and Button. Hamilton and Button were going through turns without taking each other out which is 10 times harder than just going straight. Webber drove a straight line to squeeze Vettel and Vettel lost control immediately when his tire touched some grass swerving to Webber. See my quote. I referred this as a racing incident that could have been avoided if Webber gave racing room to his team mate. And I mentioned that I don't mean for Webber to back-off and slow down. If Webber didn't want any room for Vettel to pass, then he should make his car much wider by driving an obvious defensive line where Vettel has no option at all to pass. Or slow Vettel down early in very tight corners and exit much faster than Vettel leaving himself breathing room in the straights. BTW, the only reason I'm bringing this up now even though the race was 2 weeks ago is that I just saw the race last night on DVR since I was on vacation last week.
So basically Vettel lacks the minutest amount of skill to keep driving in a straight line? Incorrect, Vettel didn't touch even the slightest bit of grass. As noted by David Hobbs on the US broadcast (and I confirmed by watching it about 10 times). Vettel had racing room. Please, Vettel merely needed to go straight. That's it. The easiest pass you can do. Sorry you didn't get the discussion, but only the most inflexible Webber haters are on your side (SRT Mike, etc).
... and stamped his passport as he went past just like Glock did for Hamilton to win the WDC man we have some dumbos in this section .... not saying who they are, but you get the gist of it with stupid HATE threads like this and the other driver HATE threads Schuey, Vettel, Alonso, Webber, Massa, Button .... all good drivers so why the hate ? Jealousy ?
... and given him a massage with a happy ending. Again lovespeed, what would you do if you were leading the WDC and your team told you to go onto the leaner setting (and thus less engine power) while leading a race? You would expect that your team mate has done the same, and yet 20 seconds later you realise that the team has just bent you over and taken turns at fncking you real hard up the @rse so that their preferred driver could inherit the win and then take over YOUR lead of the WDC. Webber didn't block as you suggest because he is a team player, but he did make it challenging for useless Vettel to say very clearly to Vettel and the team that he doesn't like taking it up the @rse like RB and EI did for Schumacher. Some drivers have pride and are in it to win AND have currently the form to stand up and say that. Pete ps: I don't think I would have been quick thinking enough to do what Webber did, I would have blocked and that would have caused a drive through penalty. This would have caused me to loose my temper big time as I fully realised what a fncken load of @rseholes I've been working for and I would have spat the dummy big time ...
If I disagree with my team, I go with what I feel is best for me to win the race. If Webber was truly faster, then he should've been driving at top speed so that Vettel wouldn't have been able to even attempt a pass at all. As you said, Webber is leading the WDC against his team mate. I really don't think Red Bull would ask Weber to give up a race position especially when he is leading points and a 1-2 finish is on the line. As a team you want the best chances to win both WDC and Mfg Title. PS. you are allowed 1 blocking move without incurring any penalty. And if Webber was really working for such @rseholes then don't sign an extended contract with them. Competition even between team mates is good to a certain point. Nico doesn't want to be behind Schumi's shadow and he is doing a great job staying ahead. Chris Horner has to get a grip on both Vettel and Webber before this competition between team mates degrades and hurts the team overall.
This is not a joke. Leaving "racing room" is explained at race schools, and race events, (POC - Porsche Owner's Club) and NASA. This is open wheel, this is not NASCAR where "rubbing is racing". Team mates especially should know how to co-exist. Hamilton and Button showed how this is properly done. We all saw the race. They left each other "racing room" while going through turns and at high speeds.
You have missed the point where Webber was told to turn his engine to a leaner fuel setting. I clearly mentioned that, and so did the commentators if you actually watched the race. That is the only reason why Vettel was at that point faster. The team told Mark to do that supposedly to get to the end of the race. The real reason was to let Vettel passed ... otherwise Vettel would never have got near him. They both would have had to go onto the leaner setting soon, but Webber was told first ... I've said enough on this. Webber left racing room proved by the fact that Vettel was able to get 80% passed and would have gone all the way passed if he just kept going straight ... we have a prankster here. I'm out. Pete
don't be hatin' We agree to disagree. My opinion is what it is and yours is yours. Since I don't agree with you and am not convinced with your arguments... that makes me a prankster?
yeah, thanks Sebastion, didn't know you were a member when I called you a cockhead, deep apologies Can I catch a lift to Poland next week ??
You are ignoring everybody elses points. Posting this comment proves it: And also shows you have no idea of what really was going on or don't want to ... hard to drive faster with an engine producing many hp less on a leaner setting (as requested by the team). Best of luck for the rest of the season Sebastion. I suggest you stop blaming the car for your qualifying mistakes and accept that you are but human like the rest of us. Pete
John "Moretti" You're a class act. If someone doesn't share your same sentiments then call him names. Real Class buddy.
Webber is my least favorite driver on the grid, a true bonehead. This incident however happened because Vettel couldn't exercise a few seconds more of patience. He should have known better with Webber at the wheel teammate or not.
