I am a "Porsche guy" and I enjoyed the racing clip.

Only non-Porsche people or Porsche people with no clue of the cars history get upset with the VW-Porsche link.
Here is a picture of a Porsche that predates the VW and laid the ground work for the car.

After Porsche worked for Merc and AutoUnion doing the SSk and grand prix cars etc. He started his own co. and wanted to get away from rich people and their fast toys, so he designed farm tractors, they were air cooled Diesel, air cooling because poor people could not afford antifreeze. He carried the air cooling over to the "people's car" for the same reason. After the war his son hot rodded off the shelf parts from VW with a custom body’s to build sports cars. To raise money to bail dad out of jail for his "War crimes", eventually Porsche was able to produce all their own components and did not need to modify VW stuff any more, of course the bolt patterns remained as a reminder of their roots. So for instance a 36HP VW engine will bolt to the transmission of a 962 race car that won La Mans. So in all seriousness it is correct to say that a 1500HP 917K is a “glorified VW” an only the historical ignorant find offense in it.
Once again great video you found, it is fun to be able to laugh at our selves.

Thanks for the history lesson Fritz, I didn't realize the mechanical relationships between Porsche and VW were that close - I just assumed the only significant collaboration was the VW Beetle.

Definitely! Some of the best banter I've had on here is when people are making jokes at my 'expense'. :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Also his artillery land-train tractor he made for WW1 was what gave him the leg-up on the competition for the People's Car (Volkswagon), as Hitler remembered how well it worked in the fields of WW1. Without his tractors, there would have been no VW, and no Porsche company after WW2.

BTW, I own a VW-Posche (914 was marketed as such in Europe), so I have no issues with people calling them either/or ;)
Heck the 356 I have has a glorified beetle motor in it, among other parts and design.
