Most recently owned by Sion Elalouf in NY for at least five years.

Yes, the quad exhaust was a factory system. From what I understand, the factory installed dual tips or quad tips depending on what was available on that particular day. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hi Walter,

I've asked the previous owner and he told me that he purchased the car in 2003 from a Gregg and Pamela Woodwell Geerdes in Minnesota. It was inherited from either Gregg or Pamela's father in 2000.

How were you able to find out the original owner as well as the others?

    Thanks,

    David

Here are some pics of my '72 SS - # 2492.

After 2 years of searching for a Ghibli, I finally purchased 2492 in 2002 from a dealer in Philidelphia.

I have done much major work to it over the years, including replacing the auto transmission with a 5-speed, complete re-paint, re-chrome, fuel system, brakes, electrical, suspension, cooling system, etc...

Everything works on the car, even the clock and the a/c, as it has now been thoroughly sorted, and is an absolute pleasure to own.

It is not totally original, though the major deviations from stock tend to be more cosmetic (paint, interior) and I do not believe detract from the experience or the presentation.

    According to Maserati Customer Service:

"We kindly inform you that the Ghibli/ss. AM115/49*2492* was built in September 1972.
The original colour was brown Colorado met.,the internal was in senape leather, the authomatic transmission was with spoked wheel and power steering.

The car was sent to our dealer Grossman Motor Cars.

We remind you that the Customer Service Maserati Site is at your complete disposal for further information.

    Customer Service Maserati Site"

The car was black when I got it, and had also been painted red, though the original color was brown metallic, but I decided to keep it black with a bare metal re-spray to every panel except the roof. It currently has about 32,000 miles under it.

The interior had also been restored by a previous owner to a very decent standard. However I do not believe that the current light color (ivory) is actually the original "senape" that Maserati customer service refers to, so the interior colour might have been changed at some time in the past.

Along with the 5-speed transmission change (the interior pic shows it before the swap), black colour change, and possible interior color change, it has also had electronic ignition installed and shoulder harness seat belts.

Otherwise it is stock, including a Becker Europa II radio and the XWX tires with tubes.

I would really like to find out some history about my Ghibli, I have tracked the previous owner, but have not had much luck other wise.

Very nice! I love the black exterior with the cream interior, such a nice combo. I also like the chromed front fender vents. I was thinking about doing the same thing to my car.

    Thanks David.

Looking at Ghiblis for over ten years now, I could never figure out why some had chrome side vents, and others were painted body colour. Perhaps it was a factory option (?)

    Stu,
your car was sold by GROSSMAN MOTORCARS to the UNIVERSAL Filmstudios in Burbank, Caifornia.
In the 90ies it was owned by John Mood.

There was a GTO owner who sold his GTO to purchase a new Ghibli. Anyone know who this was or where the car might be?

Thanks Walter, that is most interesting, I'd like to hear more. I always assumed my car spent it's life on the East coast.

When I purchased this Ghibli from Pennsylvania Motor Sports in Phili in April of 2002 (no longer in business) the only previous owner indicated on the paperwork was a gentleman who is currently a Wilmington City Delaware councilman. I believe he purchased the car from a Ralph Paul Inc. in Wilmington Delaware (no longer in business).

I have not made any attempts to contact him as it appeared he only owned the Ghibli for one year. It does help confirm the mileage, since I have a Registration card that shows about 27,ooo miles at that time.

Prior to that, I did not have any ideas till your post.

    Hi Marc.

Well you didn´t reply all that quickly either, did you?

And you did already contact and chat with W. Bäumer before replying to my pm?
And you are therefore already in touch with a broker who gave you information about the fact that his client is currently making an offer on my car?

    email on its way...
