Making a low pass at the Chino Air Show a few weeks back. My son Brant in the 51 and Jeff in the 38. Hardware belongs to the guy that used to own Behr Paint. Hanger pix of Bob Buttons air racer Voodo sans wing and the 38 at Yolo Airport near Davis, Ca. last weekend.

    Sweet pics Sparky!

Speaking of Chino, and at the risk of hijacking the thread. Did the FW109 make it to the airshow? If it did, can we see pics of it? :D

That first shot is great! The name of the air racer "Precious Metal" would apply just as well to these two aircraft.

If this is the plane at Camden, SC it wasn't a gear problem...at least it wasn't when it was being discussed during clean up. Ground loop, and subsequent off tarmac excursion is what was said as it was being hoisted onto the flat bed.

Great pics BTW, P-38 my favorite WWII fighter.

Ground loop...mo betta than a hung gear. The nut behind the screw rather than the screw behind the nut. Too bad but it do happen.

Too bad about the FW but at least pride and metal are the only casualties.

Hey Steve, you coming by soon?

Hya Brian.....nope. Back north for some odd reason. Nothing to do there and its getting into the mid 90s there and mid 70s here...much nicer environment north. Prop at ohaul shoppe til July. Crap engine has me behind a rock and a hard place at the moment. Bummed out about the whole deal. Outta Reno and perhaps outta sponsor...if it wernt for the TR Id be lost. The bright spot is that Susan & Steve got married a few weeks ago and I think there are a few new hairs sprouting on my slick head. Regarde...

Maybe now they can find a proper 3-bladed prop for it.

I was getting my tail wheel at CDN when this happened. Story goes the FW only had 2 or 3 hours on her and had only been in the air twice (all second/third hand info BTW). Pilot/builder had never flown anything this powerful...1600 or 1700hp? Got away from him one evening and well the pictures tell the story.

Last I heard it was being sold as is...no insurance.

I have no idea if it is all true, just the scuttlebutt around the field.

    if that's true it's a damn shame....

but it does happen and at the end of the day no one was hurt, and it's JUST an airplane :(

Things like that happen on big boy toys. In the big sceme of things it does not look all that badly hurt.

I think from Chicago area. I believe he owns one mustang now along with several other warbirds. Also a duck. He had two mustangs and sold one, the guy that bought it is the one that torque rolled it in California a few years ago.

Anyway, I hung out with one of his daughters at the Cessna Advanced Pilots Club in Wichita last weekend. She has a 2008 Cessna Corvalis tt. Sounds like an interesting guy, flies his own CJ too.

    Very cool

A P51 just went by my office window at 200ft earlier today practicing for the Mt Comfort airshow... We are just off the end of 25 and had an F/A 18 do his bit about a half an hour ago, had to go out and watch... It's humid and he got a cone of vapor as he went by in a high speed pass.....

I love it when they turn my tax dollars into noise....

Ok, now the "Horsemen" are practicing... VERY NICE... 36 cyl's of smooth power.. I'm not getting anything done this afternoon....
