Guys, need your help I bought this 355 bonnet badge from a reputable supplier via ebay. They tell me its OEM, genuine Ferrari part. It does not look genuine, and i think its a copy. The letters underneath the horse look different to pics i've seen of others. What do you think? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just my guess but I would say no...Here is a picture of the OEM 355 hood badge from Ricambi. Much more detailed and the letters are the proper height. I could be wrong...who knows??? I just looked at it closer....Look at the "e" and the "a" as well as the other letters, I am guessing it is not real, 99% sure. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The supplier says the part is OEM from the factory. They have offered a refund if I return the product. I think im going to return it as i am not prepared to put this on my 355.
Order the OEM part from Ricambi.. They have never let me or anyone else down over on this side of the world. Good luck on the refund. --Mike
Not sure who the seller was, but I wouldn't hang them out to dry just yet. Is it a single post or dual post emblem? Can you snap a hi-res picture of the back side (assuming you have not removed the peel-stick adhesive section yet) Yes, they often have peel/stick + the single or dual threaded post. There are several variants of the nose emblem, and they're not all identical. p.s. I'll admit, there appears to be too much space between the two "r"s and there should be a lot of silver 'muscle' detail on the horse itself.
I was wondering if it might be a more "vintage" version. You know, from an earlier iteration of the badge. Considering how much changes in these cars from year to year, I would not be surprised if the badges likewise are evolutionary.
some more pics, Thanks for you help guys. Whats the verdict? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My badge has green backing on the back, yours has white. Do you think my badge is a repo? The part was sold to me quoting the original correct ferrari part no., if it is a copy, is this false advertising?
If you're not right Vicne, then I would have to say she is a fake. A rather average one at that. The Ricambi one is the go. Send it back Darren and buy the one from Ricambi.
yeah, im going to send it back. I feel a bit ripped off, because the ebay ad was misleading. It quoted the correct ferrari part no. and all. The supplier says its 'OEM from the factory in Italy'. Yeah, i wonder which factory in Italy, looks like a china copy, the photo i took makes it look better than the actual one. The other thing, it wasn't cheap! All up about $200 AUD including delivery!
Not only does the font look off, but if you compare the horses you will notice that the horse on the OEM has silver around the outline, whereas the alleged counterfeit is a lot more black and a very tiny trace of silver.
Ferrari UK sell this part for £101.00 = $147.41 or Aud$174.00. Sometimes it pays to check the dealers price first..... Regards, Phil.
Mine is chiped and I ordered a new one from UK along with the 40K maitenance stuff. Still haven't checked it properly though....
