    Hi guys,
I am writing to appeal to your collected expertise in Lamborghinis, the market, and the mind of the buyer/collector. Specifically regarding the Islero, a car that has its unique beauty and is rare enough to be a collector piece, but seemingly, just odd enough not to be an A-grade investment. According to Sports Car Market magazine, a D grade investment, in fact, whereas say a Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is considered a C grade.

Who is the Islero buyer? What is it about this car that turns them on and will motivate them to buy a certain one and, especially, what turns them off to make them walk away? Do they want fully restored or untouched? Price and condition are the obvious factors, but what are the factors under the skin, both of the car and the buyer?

I am grateful for all your insights.
    Tom

The first thing to do is never read or give credence to the opinions of Keith Martin and Sports Car Market Magazine. Pretty much anything that has rolled out of Sant' Agata Bolognese is a hunk of **** in their oh so humble opinion.

Yes! Tho a great mystery to me is that Donald Osborn is one of their writers and just did GREAT with his Islero, selling it and what I would think is a record price 2 years ago (I think) in Monterey/Pebble/Gooding.

I think there's Keith Martin...then there's the rest of the magazine. From what I have heard Keith doesn't really know much about cars -- like working on them and stuff -- I've heard horror stories about his own Ferrari.

He's built a great magazine there, I'll give him credit for that. But you don't need to know anything about cars to do that. If you bank on Ferraris you will obviously do well in the long haul.

But -- I'm not impressed with his Lamborghini ignorance. Or maybe I should say "we" are not impressed.

with my modest opinion, owning an Islero just leaves you the feeling you have in hands a very scarce Lamborghini model. That said, it is the goal to reach with Islero, to own a model that doesn't show off like a CC or Miura. A "classic", that the amateur can't see often as Miura & CC are so well represented in many rallies, concours d'elegance, exhibition. Our "ego" is to share our choice with curious people. With that profile I believe "attraction" or "popularity capital" is even better... another point, the Islero owner prefers that "driving position" compared to Miura & CC limited front view & no rear view (personnaly, I like also these cars to drive). May be it is also a good model to invest in, and better is to buy a car to restore, but it is not the priority for some people as the wallet thickness may change too. 125x GT and 100x GTS produced make them also more attractive compared to higher production figures with some similar period Ferrari models...

I don't know what you mean -- do you mean how do you sell an islero? Do you have one for sale and you're looking for a buyer?

the tipical islero buyer? there is not such a thing imo
but i think he is a real lamborghini knower and passionate, he likes to be different and is looking for something rare and elegant
for both the joy of driving and showing the car at meetings

almost any can fan knows what a miura or a countach is, but in most cases only a lambo-guy knows and appreciate an islero! :)

then there is the multi islero owner: well...that is an other kind of specie...he is likely a peculiar man (often belgian), he collects all the old lambo stuff and he even pretends to race these cars! ;)
