That is a great car that I would definitely buy however 3 things: 1) Would cost a fortune to get it to US, 2) the weak US dollar, 3) It is an auction and I'm sure there will be many people from over there willing to spend to get there hands on it.
If it was for sale with a reasonable price and getting here was affordable, then I would buy it.
    I sent an email anyway.

I don't know that it would cost a fortune to tranposrt it, maybe $2500-$3000?
It's been mentioned on VLG before and the owner wanted 20K Euros.
It WILL take a lot of work to bring it back but you won't be looking for every little bit of trim. It looks pretty complete to me. It has the rear slats too! Probaly has the operating front vent windows as well. You know, "rare stuff". These will end up being the most valuable versions I think but the worst cars. A late S2 with power steering might be a good compromise. The S3 are supposed to be the best operating ones.

    Have fun.

I was told the car is offered without reserve.

I agree that it will cost a lot of work to restore, but after that you will have the second oldest driving Espada known to still exist.

How do you go about bring that car over?
20euro is about 24us. I mean if I could get that car for 17 or 18 euro (20500-21700) plus 3000 ship........that is worth it (and the wait to get it).

Can you post the VLG link to that discussion?

They discussed it again today which is where I got the link. Just go over there and ask or search for it. I'm certain the guy who posted the link today can help you out. I think your numbers on the sales price may be a bit low but it's worth a try. If it doesn't work out I know someone else with a S1 who's about fed-up with his lambo projects and might accept an offer. I think this car is probably more interesting though. Email me if this doesn't work out.

The car has been for sale for a while. It is stored under a shed close to Magny Cours France. The car is part of a big car collection owned by an english gentleman.I dont know why the collection is up for sale.
I spoke to the guy in charge of the storage, our version of a redneck I guess.Extremly difficult to understand him and I am french !!!

He told me that more cars would be for sale along with a Miura...
No Joe,I did not managed to get the # but I tried !

A friend of mine have seen the car,he is a car broker and his analysis is:

Rare complete S1 Espada ,would require some work and the engine is unfortunatly broken.
Not a good buy from a broker point of vue.

And he was not the first potential buyer to see the car.

That was my contribution to this, hope it helps

I wish I could translate. Its an old Ad, and I used it to illustrate the color, although this pic below by Lambojack is better for that purpose.

Hey Peter, I bought it. Actually the price was negotiated a little lower after the fact - tool kit was not complete as stated. But I think it will be a good car. Will be awhile before I can do much with it though.

I wanted to buy it last year when it was advertised, but waiting turned out to be a benefit. ;)

Thanks Emilio...I finally got a project espada...Love them rough!
The S1 was my preference too, if only from a styling standpoint. I have never driven one so can't compare early vs late.

The owner was a big 60's Ford collector and bought this "just to try it". He said every time he went by it in the garage he'd shudder thinking of all that it would take to restore it. So after a year he put it back on the market.

He had a number of rare Mustangs and Torino's that I would have loved to have, but only the Lambo was for sale! It will be on the truck later this week and I'll post pics when it gets here.

My French is definitely getting rusty, but this is relatively close:

Is there a connection between a Lamborghini and Goulaschki shoes?
No, but… they both have an elegance, a common modern aesthetic, a common finish. One is signed ‘Bertone,’ the other is signed ‘Belbis.’
No, but… the endurance of both has been proven on the longest paths and the most difficult roads.
No, but… they share the bull as their emblem; and in all the stores where you find it you will find Goulaschkis available.
Goulaschki shoes for men, women, and children in Hungarian skin from 50 Francs.

If someone with greater fluency can improve my translation, my feelings will certainly not be hurt. I have translated "a profusion" as "available", and peaux de Hongrie as "Hungarian skin," though it probably really means "Hungarian leather." Unless I'm really missing something. Anyway, I think that's as much explanation as to why there are shoes on the hood of the Espada for the purposes of the questioner.

My own (little) Espada story is from about 15 years ago, maybe closer to 20. My father, who is a Ferrari guy, was given the chance to buy an Espada that had been sitting in storage for many years. It was part of the collection that belonged to an older gentleman, and as the fellow got older, he started to sell of his cars, since he just didn't drive them enough anymore. I can't remember the asking price, or even if it had gotten to that stage, but the car was, to my father's taste, an unappealing dark brown. I believe I was young enough to joke that he should buy it for me (I think I was old enough to have my driver's license), and old enough that he told me to buy my own damn Lamborghini. I haven't done so, yet, but it's on my list of things to do.
