I've been lurking on here for a while, soaking up all your experiences with the California. I took the plunge In December 2009, trading a 2006 Bentley CGT & a Pininfarina Spider Volumex. Well the wait was excruciating, but it finally arrived 2 weeks ago!

    My thoughts so far:
The Sport seats are quite comfortable for daily driving. The bolsters are a little high, and I expect they'll show wear pretty quickly. The seat tilt is electric, but it slides manually. You lose the heated seat function and memory, so that's a trade-off. You get much better head room than the standard seats with the roof up (i'm 6'2"), but my 5'7" wife needs to sit on something to see over the instruments properly! They give more leg room for the 5 and 6yr old in the back seats too. I didn't spec the Red Cavalino's in the seat head rest! I didn't see them on the configurator, so not sure what happened there. Perhaps they're standard now if you spec contrasting stitching for the rest of the cabin??

I think the standard stereo is pretty good. I didn't consider the upgraded version, but it compares well to the one in the Bentley (The Bentley's one was better though!)

It's essential to get the front parking sensors. They're an option here in NZ, and it's surprising how much of the nose you can't see when parking. I would have hit something by now without them!

I chose this Titanium Color so as to 'blend-in' a bit. I'm in a town that has as many Ferraris as I have fingers on one hand, so I didn't want to have every cellphone camera for blocks photographing me! Also, that's why I got the windows tinted.....!
In my opinion the red didn't suit the shape (I love red - almost got a 430 spider in red), and the shape can get a little lost in the black or silverstone. Personal preference I know, but I think this car looks amazing in this color. I have never seen a photo of a California in any color that actually does the shape justice. You need to see one in person to appreciate the design.

Magnaride works pretty well - worth getting I think.

SMALL fuel tank - it's not too thirsty compared with the Bentley's W12, but I still need to stop more frequently to fill up

I had driven the dealer's demo 2 or 3 times, and now that i've taken delivery, it's actually exceeded my expectations!

    Enjoy the photos!

Agree, steering wheel on wrong side, but at least with the paddles you don't have to shift left handed, which was always my biggest headache when in Sydney!

Congratulations! My favorite color for the California. I also tried the sports seats; you won't regret taking them.

That looks real nice. The sport seats indeed look like they allow for more headroom. I sat in sport seats in a 599 and was suprised at the difference from the standard seats. I do like the seat heaters in the winter though. Yes, many things in life is a trade-off.
    Enjoy!

    Thanks for your comments!

Yes, they are pretty comfortable, although they don't recline back far enough. An extra 5˚ would be perfect. I'll ask the dealer if there's any adjustment

    cheers,
    Adam

Yep, I used my seat heaters almost every day last winter ... I would miss them although they are very slow to heat up. My S550 heats the seats very fast, not the Cali so if you have a short drive you are not missing anything.

    Your combo looks GREAT!

Thanks for your comments. I have the seat heaters in our family Cayenne, and they're pretty quick. Good to know i'm not missing out too much!

Adam- Very pretty. Amazing how the red stitching really brightens up an interior. Great choices on your part.

    Thanks,

The dealer's demo had the contrasting stitching in red, and that sold me on it. It brightens an otherwise somber interior color, without going too 'loud' !

    Cheers,
    Adam

    Looks great!

We have similar tastes and ages of children

I have a CGT Speed and a cayenne (and a few other toys) and have been considering a Cali so I can take the kids around in a convertible

are the kids comfortable back there? Are booster sears required in NZ?

I have a titanium car as well! We would get along great!

Beautiful color, very tasteful and understated. This is also the first Cali I've seen with sports seats, good choice.

    Enjoy it in good health.
