iPhone 4 Pre-order...

Anyone else pre-order this morning? I had problems with Apple's site, so I ordered online via ATT. Pre-orders opened up at 3am (central time)

 

I can't get through to apple or AT&T

 

After trying for a few hours on Apple and AT&T, I was finally able to get through on AT&T. It was somewhat of a PITA though!

 

Arrggg I keep getting stuck at the "Please wait while we access your AT&T account" It times out every f'n time.

 

Finally got through, should be here on June 24th

 

I got mine! Black 16G.

I couldn't use the ATT or Apple site (down all day, also reported some security and charging glitches) so I went into the local Apple store and one of their reps showed me another process.

She had me download the "Apple Store" app onto my phone. From there I ran the app and set up my preorder right on the phone in about 2 minutes. Worked perfectly.

Crossing my fingers that they allocated me one physical, manufactured phone rather than a PO that might become backordered!

Very excited for iPhone 4. The display is stunning.

 

From what I understand, most of the features will be available for the 3GS and iPad via a software update next week. What's the hurry to the new iPhone?

We do know it supports video chat with the dual cameras. I'm sure many other apps will appear that do bizarre things with *both* cameras....

Other than that, I dunno?

Read the fine print on your acknowledgement.
If you don't have a specific appointment time they may not be guaranteeing you a phone on the first day.

The software yes (some upgrades aren't available on non-s phones though) but not for a while, the new hardware obviously not.

 

I was going to do the pre-order and have it shipped, but it only ships to your billing address. No way would I allow that to sit on my porch all day while Im at work and the following day Im out of town. Might as well wait till I get back...

 

They ship UPS or FEDEX so I doubt it would be left w/o a signature.

 

Im not pre-ordering,but Im getting it. Just dont know when.

 

Once I finally got through on the phone my order took no time to place. When I told the rep how long I'd been trying he threw in a free bumper as thanks. Not much, but a nice touch.

 

The new software will be on my phone 3 days before you have your new one.

That said, I really wanted one, but I have to wait until November.

 

I just got through to AT&T and ordered the 32gb.

I told my wife I would get her the new iphone for her 30th birthday. I wonder if she will notice if I give her my 3gs instead?

 

What is the release date?
The Apple site isn't specific but originally it was due after the new phone rollout.

 

I was told "the last week in June".

 

June 21st for iOS4.

Early fall for os update for the iPad. I've got one of those too

My iPhone is a regular 3G so it's time for an upgrade

 

Ive heard June 24 is the exact release date for the phone.

 

Primarily, I need a new phone - my 3G is beat up and the battery life is beginning to suffer. Aside from that, the iPhone 4 has the amazing display, HD video recording capability, video-chat, and it's much faster. Better battery life, glass front and back with a stainless band - I think they really got this one right.

My 3G feels so slow - I'm very excited for the new device.

I am concerned about not having an allocation. Did you get a specific appointment time? Here is the fine print below my pretty invitation:

I'm not going to stand in line for 4 hours or arrive at 3am to pick it up at 7am. I thought I would swing by around 10am (maybe crowd has dissipated?) but if it's first-come, first-served basis, maybe they will have run out of phones by 10am?

I'll get the latest iPhone in a couple of years. Once the 64GB 6GS model is out

I got my iPhone 3GS a year or so ago and I'll try to keep it another couple of years. It works great and I'm not interested in having the latest tech toy.
