Is it not more likely to be a VW-Porsche 914? I thought there were only 11 916s made. Basically it was the 914 with a 911S 2.7RS engine!!! Apparently if it is a 916 it is probably worth between US$170K and $320K judging by recent trades. Very rare indeed. In the photos below, the blue one is the factory 916 and the yellow one the 914. The spoiler at the front is a bit of a givaway. I would go for the 914. PAUL Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sir paul thank you for the correction and detail but I have to say the shape looks quite similar, sorry for the mix up
Nah! You are quite right. Have to admit the sham. You can blame the Porche for Dummies section of Wikipedia. I saw the car and remembered from my past, when I was young, immature and actually fancied the VW-P 914, that the shape was that of a 914. Looked it up to confirm in my own mind, and found out all about the 916. Apologies if I looked Porche smart! PAUL
I have never seen a 914 in the flesh anywhere, ever. I did however see a Delorean about 20 mins out of Heathrow this morning after landing in sunny England. That's two in one year. Weird.
6/17 Gloucester Rd, sorry for no pics but I have no computer access at the moment (using iPod). red Corvette C4 Roadster 3 430s grigio silverstone California argento nurburing 355 GTS nero noctis Gallardo Spyder grigio silverstone 430 on Harbour Rd too much to mention again...
I am much older than you. I remember them well from the 70s. Also the earlier, more rounded VW Karman Ghia. They were not uncommon. Especially when driving through Germany on our way to holidays in Italy. A friend on mine, Bill Prior, sadly no longer with us, had the one and only Delorean in HK back in the early 80s. He loaned it out to showcase the launch of "Back to the Future" outside a TST cinema and it got bumped by a passing car!! He could never drive it here because it was LHD. I think he sold it to someone who shipped it to Oz and did a RHD conversion there.
When I used to live down in Cornwall I used to see Karman Ghias (those,Beetle and Type 2's were all the rage with the surfers) all the time and an old freind of mine used to have an immaculate Notch-back. I know 914's aren't that uncommon but they keep eluding me. Did you ever see the Delorean I posted a while back that I saw (ironically) in TST? It was a RHD conversion and had the license plate OUTATIME (same as the movie). Going to Castle Combe tomorrow to see the Britcar qualifying and a few other things. Should have a few interesting pictures for you guys come tomorrow evening, then back for the race on Sunday.
Pretty awesome at Tai Mei Tuk this morning, a whole row full of Gallardos and 5 Murcielagos parke side by side as well as a LP570-4 Superleggera; pics up later. Will be heading to Elements later as well for the carshow.
Went SMD this morning. As IcyJ said, lots of cars; thanks to the Lambo club! Also there was a police crackdown on T-plates Some pics from Tai Mei Tuk (had breakfast in Luk Geng but not too many cars there compared to here) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOL you saw that as well? My dad said that it was actually due to traffic violations; that would probably explain why none of the other T-plated cars were checked. Were you part of the convoy when they all left? Would imagine it would be crazy to see all of those on the highway at once. Some pics of my own Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
O that would make sense re why only the Superleggera got checked. I left around 30 seconds after all of the cars left as wanted to avoid the traffic. Must admit it was quite a scene seeing all the supercars lining up waiting to leave the carpark. Nice pics, anymore?
Yeah, I'll post them when I get home. Have a vid of when they were all lining up outside the carpark, looked pretty insane. Were you in the 355, I think? It left a bit after all the others had. At elements right now, not much of interest since all of the cars wlare the ones which were at the SMD this morning. Saw on facebook that there would be a 670, and there isn't
don't recall seeing you leave XD mind you I left straight after the 355 did. Father's day supercar show at elements, 20 cars. Nothing really special except a 599 with a matte black roof which I thought was a 599XX

I went to the Elements too. Pretty good turnout despite no LP670-4. Was kinda suprised to see a stick shift Balboni, Gallardo, G Spyder, and 430 in HK where almost every Porsche 911 is tiptronic.
WOW! this thread is AMAZING!!! im slowly reading through it but id just like to ask.. there might be some later but any of you guys seen like super rare cars? e.g. Reventon, Enzo, SLR 722, Zonda F's or crazy Gemballas and brabus's etc etc. Im just blown away at these cars you see. Post any pics up id love to see what ill probably never see in real life!
Pagani Zondas and a Reventon has been spotted in HK. I have seen Brabus kits on S500's, E500, and on the current C-Class. I've seen Gemballas and TechArts too.
