Is there such a thing? We do have skiing here in CO until late June. I could conceivably drive up and ski with no worry of snow. It would be cool to roll up to the resort in a Ferrari.

so I believe a rack like that would rip off.

The issue with a bike rack on a targa 3x8 is that you can't use the roof, and the rear deck is so long that the universal nylon mounts don't work correctly back there either. My local bike shop gave up and suggested a receiver hitch mount. Honestly, that's not likely either.

My first reaction was "you've got to be kidding!!" But if you have a GTB, a roof rack might be possible. Just be very careful because the roof panels are very thin and can dent easily. If it is a GTS, basically furgedabowdit. You can't use the roof panel. And on either GTB or GTS, you don't want to mount anything on the rear engine lid, as it is very thin and will dent very easily, like the GTB roof.

Heck, if you can afford a Ferrari, you can afford to have a chase crew in a van carrying your skis, bikes, spare women, chilled caviar and XO vodka, etc. Right??? LOL

If you've got a GTS just let your skis stick out the roof. :)

Bic (yes the pen people) used to market a rack that worked very nicely on a GTB, I did however feel a trifle nervous about driving the car much above 115 or so, the racks actually started to "chatter" a bit from the wind resistance!

Mohn used to make a rack for 246's, I had a friend that used to take his Dino skiing....one wonders how rotten the rear quarter panels became in that car!

    Apologies for the poor photo...

If you love your Ferrari, don't put anything on it. I've never had a roof rack that didn't make any sort of dent, scratch, noise, etc, on the car it went on. The paint/body work bill will sour any trip very quickly.

There's some 'soft racks' now for surfboards...I'd think they would hold a ski bag.

I don't think you'll find a hard rack to fit that old of a car......

As a surfer I've used these - They rest on the roof of the car and scratch and rub. They will ruin your paint job.

I maintained my dad's Lotus Elise for a while (and he lent it to me as a daily when my car was in the shop :) ) I remembered this when I saw the thread - I'm sure you could use it for ski's as well!

Nevermind - i just saw it requires drilling! and he wants $1500.... nope

    Cheers,
    Spencer

I recall seeing a racking system for the VW Cabrio, which mounted on the A-pillar and the C-pillar hoop. However, this required drilling.

You could probably get something made like the old Mohn ski rack like the one on Kie's for-sale P 914:

I had a ski rack for my targa fiat X1/9 (also had tire chains for that thing). It did NOT require drilling, and attached to the back latch of the targa top and the rear quarter panel. However, if you are a stickler for your finish, as mentioned above, this would be a disaster...

Another option might be a trunk mount bike rack with some sort of ski adapter

This method works for GTS only:

Buy another roof and permanently mount ski / bike rack on one of your roof.

I think I still have one of those ski racks for my old X1/9. That would be a good ebay item!
I also have one on my Fiat 850 that mounts to the rear engine grill, and one for the 240z that mounts on the hatch bolts.

I don't think I would want one for the 328, I just use my Jeep and never have to worry about leaving it in the ski area parking lot. I guess if I need to haul my skis in the 328, I would take the top off, and slide them into the passenger side and stick them out through the roof.

I also like the idea of a spare removal top, but that would make it tough to have the top off when coming home from a day on the hill......

    Enjoy,
    Bob
