unmount AC radiator w/o removing anything else?

I got a 90 348 with a leak in the AC front radiator. Is it possible to unmount it without anything else like the bumper or headlights?

I can see that the plastic cover plates are not a problem and the two lines are easily accessible. But when I look down through the slits of the headlight, I can see 4 bolts on the 'front' of the radiator mount. Or are those not required for unmounting the radiator?

btw, I found a guy that can fill the system with r143a, so no retrofit needed. What's your experience with that?

 

Easy to dismount from inside the wheelwell.

 

Ok, just for my own understanding. I can access every nut, bolt etc. required to unmount the AC radiator when I remove the wheel?

1. Jack it up
2. Remove wheel
3. Remove access panel
4. Remove plastic piece under bumper
5. Remove ac parts.
6. Take a break, have a beer!

The brackets that are clamped on the radiator are rusted. Does anyone know a source where you also can order these internationally?

I went to a radiator specialist and it appears the radiator (it's actually called condenser) said it's beyond repair, i.e., if they do it's most likely to fail on another spot.

They can manufacture a similar condenser, but I was wondering what the typical price is of an original one. Any one?

Can't find it, but than again, I'm not keen on secondhand radiators. Had bad experiences with that.

I think I remember this - was it new but 'shop-soiled'? If that was the one, I checked with the seller to see if it was cosmetic damage or more and apparently it was holed I then checked with my A/C guy to see how easy it might be to repair and he advised me to leave well alone... apparently the pipework is a continuous loop so you can't seal off one pass and it operates at high pressure. He's prepared to have a go at most things, but wasn't prepared to tackle this and advised buying new. By the way, he also advised against buying 2nd hand as in his opinion it was a false economy due to the likelihood of corrosion in a 2nd hand one. Hope that helps.

 

I got the same message this time. Previously, I bought a second hand oil-radiator for my 911 and had it checked for leaks on pressure. To make a long story short, I ended up appending an extra week to my Holidays in Italy waiting for the part coming in and repair. I was surprised, though, how capable these mechanics are in Italy. It was at a fiat garage in a very very small village

 

Ended up purhasing an original condenser for €400. It's a nice price I would say and it was in the next day or so.

During the check up of my old one I lost the o-rings. I have to replace them anyway, but don't know their sizes. Anyone?

 

They are a pretty universal kit man. Wont be hard to ask your local a/c specialist for some o-rings to suit.
