Had a date with a PhD candidate who knew more than I thought there was to know about the French Revolution. . . and absolutely nothing about anything else.

Picked her up in my 308.

Her comment: "Cute little car for getting around in the city. Of course, you wouldn't want to drive it on the highway!"

(I can only imagine that she had mistaken it for a SMART car.)

In the late '70s, as a reward for a job well done, my boss let me keep his 246gt Dino for a week. I was living in the dorms at college. I thought a girl whose attention I was really trying to get would be very impressed. I got a date with her. When we walked up to the Dino she said, "Thats a squishy car. I don't like squishy cars."
I was thinking of buying a friends '97 355S. When I drove it home, that same girl, now my wife said, "That car really makes you look gay." My cousin was interested in the 355 so I drove it over to his house and we went for a test drive. When we pulled back up into his driveway, his wife came out and said, " You guys really look gay in that car." He bought it anyway. He just always drives it with the top up.
My 308 is red with black interior. Its headlight louvers are black, along with the top, mirrors, and engine louvers. When I brought it home I asked my wife what she thought. She said, "It looks like a ladybug."

CLASSIC!!! Nice to know I am not alone out here with a wife who could give a rats arse about me having it, but would prefer I didn't have it. The "ladybug" comment sounds like something my wife would say.

Don't have a Ferrari and I don't have a girlfriend (anymore) but when I did, we saw some Ferraris on the road at seperate times. These were our conversations:

Pulled up next to a 355:
    Me: "FERRARI!!!!!"
Her: "What??? Are you insane? It's a Mustang! See, it has the horse!"
Me: *gets pissed off look on my face and stared forward continuing to drive*

Was passed by a 308 GTS:
    Me: "FERRARI!!!!!"
    Her: "Um...ew."
Me: *gets pissed off look on my face and continued driving.*

Saw 17 Ferraris together at the Virginia City Hillcimbs:
    Me: "FERRARIS!!! LOOK! 2 430 SCUDERIA 16Ms!!! HOLY SH!%!!!"
    Her: "..."
Me: "C'mon...you gotta admit this is quite the sight!"
Her: "...I'll be waiting in the car."
Me: *gets pissed off look on my face and had to leave in the next 30 minutes.*

Let's just say it's a good thing that relationship is over. ;)

I'm lucky, after her having a Gallardo spider e gear for a year, trying to park it in central london (being a woman remember), she has always wanted one of everything I have! Its great!

    - and the best bit? She has more money than me so she pays for her own :) GREAT!!!

in 2000, we went on a tour around eastern france in the 512tr. we arrived in nancy, did atour of the central square and then stopped in front of our hotel. i left her in the car while i went to find out where the parking area was. when i came back out, there was a crowd of about a dozen young men around the car. i parted the crowd, and got into the car, whereupon my wife says to me, 'i am insulted. this is the first time men have come to take a look a car instead of ME !"
the same scene was repeated nearly every gas station and hotel stop over the week.

First 308/328 we went to look at: "That's HOT! I want it."

We didn't end up buying that one, but I knew it was a good sign.

My wife has known of my affinity for cars, especially Ferraris. She has followed me to Ferrari Days across Europe and had discussed once we got back to the US that I would begin my search for a 308.

Well, she was on an extended trip out of town when I began my search in earnest. I came across a good deal on a QV (which I now own). I went through all the process of buying it without her having seen it. I even went to pick it up without her. So, when I got it back to the house I drove into the driveway, got out and brought her outside to look at it to see the major lifegoal I had achieved.

She looked at it and quite dejectedly stated, "Is that it?"

Finally, a week or two after I had it I took her for a ride. I got the car warmed up properly and then had an opportunity to rev it while we were out. She didn't say a word, but the smile said it all. She even attempted to hide it. I knew that she got it right then.

    been there done that!

When I went to the Cavallino this year, and I got to experience an Enzo, I couldn't stop saying "holy ****, I can't believe what I just did. It's a dream com true!"

She'd just go what?, It's just a car.

NO, It's not! Sometimes when I'd go exotic spotting, it was always, "Hey! I like that purse! Or, I like those shoes!" BLAH BLAH BLAH

If I saw a nice car, I FREAKED. and everytime I'd get the "IT'S JUST A CAR"

    That didn't last long :D

My wife (of 30 years) hates american muscle cars, street rods, classics....but loves Ferraris. When one of her friends asked 'why does your husband have so much passion for that thing' her response was "I'd rather he have passion for a car than another woman". Thus was born the household family name for the C/4: THE OTHER WOMAN.
