Rosso Fuoco is such a gorgeous color.
Believe me I take color choice seriously. I even turned down an opportunity to order in early April so I could see in person as many Italias as I could during my May factory tour. Nothing like seeing the car in most every color available...even a few customs like Valentino Rossi's special Giallo. Rosso Fuoco did stand out. And I am not a red-Ferrari guy. Not sure how long I will keep the coupe though. Will probably go for the drop top when things settle out in a couple of years. Maybe Rosso Fuoco for a Spyder.........hmmmm
Kinda makes you wonder what the Spider will eventually look like. For the 11 grand to paint the roof this way, you could just about BUY a spider!
I think much of the resistance to the dual colour roof combo is associated with a fear of looking "cheaper". After seeing a rosso scuderia 599 Gto this past week(458 unveil in Toronto), I am convinced that it is gorgeous. It gives the car a much more contemporary, modern look and after seeing a white and black 458, I'm not sure now what my cour choice would be.
see there ya go! that's what many of us have been saying. easy to do...easy to change back. forget the ridiculous $$$$$$ the factory charges...stupid stupid money that could actually go back into making the car itself better (lighter exhaust, lighter battery, etc, etc, etc, etc. but yeah, i'm far short of acquiring one, so my....
The 599 GTO and 458 Italia are totally different shapes. The two tone works on the 599GTO because there's less "top" I guess than the 458. That's just my opinion though. -G.B.
For that same reason (shape) I believe the two-tone works great on the 458, since it has distinct, separate panels for the roof and pillars to the rest of the body. I wouldn't be sure I'd like it for myself if I was to order one, but if there's a Ferrari with a suitable shape for a two-tone scheme, that one is the 458. That said, and after seeing several two-tone examples already, I'm finding that black roof works better than grey, mirrors look better in body colour than roof colour, and dark wheels (not black) are a nice touch.
In addition to the two-tone subject, I feel that the way to go is the vinyl: you save a lot of money and it is easily removable in case you get tired of the looks. And as it is "just the roof" it doesn't make the car look that "cheap" as some could think of a fully wrapped one. Plus, you can choose if you want to wrap the rear deck or not, the mirrors... Bottom line could be that the factory option is insanely expensive.
Ok, thought he had specced it that way. hopefully I will see it on the ride this weekend, when I get into town. MJ
and Elton John had a Ferrari Boxer in the early '70s and promptly gave it away. Well for a week anyway. He was hanging out with Noel Edmonds and describing his new Ferrari that had just arrived the week before. Elton noted 'you know about these things' so I will have it sent round to you next week. Noel Edmonds got to experience the new Boxer for a whole week, courtesy of Elton John. CH
his words not mine. check your facts. "thank you all for the kind words! if i ordered the darker wheels, it would have been 3 weeks delay, so its going on wednesday to a pro paint shop to have the wheels darker, its a simple 2 days job. i am going to use the scuderia wheels color. isuk, the satin vinyl black roof is a very simple job, it took 3 hours. the car is amazing, really amazing, i am so impressed, and sooo easy to drive . tomorrow early morning we are going for a drive , i will post pics and drive impressions in the afternoon. nick: the ferrari has the emotion and sound factor that no other car has. plus its psychologically easier to "rape" a nissan and go fast than to rape a 458 that cost six digits figures. no doubt that on the same road i will always be faster in the GTR, i still say for hardcore, pure violent, agressive and technical driving, the gtr is unbeatable, on the other hand, the 458 is a Ferrari, and the best one they ever made so far"
