    No Way !!!! never again

I'm not enjoying the attention also and was thinking the same thing that a darker car would get less attention.

Exactly what i do, eyes forward and anyone who comments I am just very nice to, and say thank you for the compliment. The guys that are a$$es you just ignore too. Last thing you want is a big scratch from some punk who saw your car after you had a run in with him!

Yeh, I left that part out. I am always nice to anyone who is pleasant to me and wants to chat about the car. Last week I let a teenager sit in the drivers seat while I took his picture with his cellphone.

Once you go black, you'll never go back.

I prefer black Ferrari's. I also prefer stick. What are you waiting for?

i understand exactly where you are coming from. i have the same issues. i buy the cars i do for the pleasure of driving. sadly for me that is detracted from by having people stare at you as you go about. enthusiasm is great, i'll chat about cars to strangers quite happily but the rest i dont enjoy. its unfortunate that the cars that give great driving pleasure are also those which capture peoples imaginations.
i often drive only at night or early in the morning, the roads are quiet so i can get a proper drive in, but also its a much more private experience and i feel all the better for it.

to your original point, my ferrari is silver and goes pretty much under the radar as much as a ferrari can be i always find. i cant decide how much of a step down in tone nero would be over rosso but i would have to imagine some. perhaps take it out on a test drive and go somewhere public and try to get a feel for how people are against what you usually experience.

I do think the subtle/dark colors get a bit less attention, but the real benefit is you'll probably feel a lot better being in the black car and that's what counts. I know I feel less conspicuous driving a silver or dark color sports cars. Combined with the manual tranny, I think you'll be much happier. If you can find a deal that works, go for it.

For what it's worth, I traded in a rosso corsa 430 coupe for a nero daytona 612. There's more that changed in my swap than just color, but while I do get a lot of attention in the black 612, it's a little different that the kind of attention I got in the red 430.

Bottom line, it is your money and your car. If it makes you happy, then it was worth it.

Here I would have put money on it turning into a "black cars are a ***** to maintain" thread...[/QUOTE]

You don't own a black car, it owns you.

Drove the rosso corsa to the dealership, then drove the nero back home. Great opportunity to A-B compare a red F car to a black, and an F1 tranny to a 6 speed.

Drove the nero around a little to get a feel for its "shock and awe" capabilities. Damn fun car. My left foot is in heaven :) Nice to heel and toe again.

The cool thing is that the nero does indeed get considerably less notice! No hoot-hollering at traffic lights, no kids pointing and screaming something stoopid.

    I'm loving this trade!

    Tom :D :D

TDF is more friendly and relatively discreet (also a fav)
    ......the closest to stealth imho
Nero is menacing and elicits negative reactions from 'challenged' individuals
    FLY screams 'look at me'
Rosso is 'write me a ticket'
    Bianco is neural

    attention can be fun
    but overall a pita
    tickets suck

bottom line - get what you like
any color on an f-car looks good

    rgds,

That was a FAST trade!!! After 2 black 911's I think I'm done with that color, but when you have the time to clean it up black looks great!!!

The front engined V12's (550/575/599/456/612) attract less attention than the lower and wider go-kart racers (360/430/458). Often I see the V12's in different colors (silver, black) than the V8s (red/yellow) so it's tough to say what draws attention more- which ferrari model the ferrari is or the color.

I will say this- the only thing that matters is that you are happy with your black/stick/spider....there will be some other guy who is totally happy buying your former red/F1/spider. Good luck with the car and drive it in good health- you being happy is what it is all about!

Never been known as one to agonize long over decisions :)

Here she as after Bryan and his co-worker spent 28 man-hours detailing her. It's so beautiful I have to be careful that my slobbering doesn't leave water spots...
