I have a 52 plate (uk) 360 spider......I cannot get gears 5 & 6 at high speed. After about 120mph I am afraid to change gear as most of the time the gearstick feels like rubber and will not go into 5 or 6...I have to slow down to 80 mph and select 4th before I can continue.
Ferrari dealer say that all is well and cannot diagnose fault because they cannot road test it at high speed. I appreciate their view point as the road speed limit is 70mph.
has anyone ever experienced this before ?
I would appreciate any information from any member.

    thanking you in anticipation.

Have the dealer arrange to test the car on a dyno where they can get the speeds necessary to determine the problem.

Andy- Check for lateral play on the gear lever, or just put in a Hill Engineering bushing as a preemptive move, since the original will eventually fail. Then if you still have a problem, look for more expensive solutions that involve the dealer.

They CAN fail. I certainly would not say they will. The OE part is still operating just fine in the vast majority of cars out there.

Common problem. It is an adjustment. The problem is the adjustment is rather coarse and it is difficult on some cars to get the lateral adjustment correct for R and 5/6.

Also I don't know how many miles the car has on it but those POS rubber shifter cable ends are junk and do wear out. I have been meaning to design some replacements with heim joints and a proper turn buckle so good adjustments can be made and get rid of the rubbery feel at the same time. Never have had the time though.

Your mechanics are doing the classic mistake in their diagnosis. They are trying to get it to select 5+6, they are not trying to get it to NOT select 5+6. Using that method as a yardstick I can give every rotten shifting car a pass.
