I live near Buttonville Airport, North of Toronto (Ontario, Canada) wouldn't mind something on floats to really enjoy Ontario and the thousands of lakes - but then I'm torn between a nice Cessna on floats, or a very cool SR-22 to cruise around in??

Been a FChat member for a while but this is my first post.

I work for Hawker Beechcraft selling the new Beech product line, Bonanza and Baron, King Airs, and the Premier 1A in the Mid Atlantic region. Grew up in aviation, Dad was FAC in Vietnam then worked for Beech for nearly 40 years before retiring last year.

Not a Ferrari owner yet (the NSX is a good trainer but keeping an I out for either a carbed 308GTB, 348TB, or early TR.

I have a friend on Long Island who was a Huey door gunner in Vietnam. But you have a bigger gun and a bigger helicopter!

 

We just had a Coast Guard copter hit some power lines that were stretched from the shore to an island near La Push on the Pacific coast and three perished. Feel bad for them since it was a X-country from Astoria to Alaska and not enemy action. Would feel bad for them anyway.

Hi guys,

I'm another one from F-Chat. Started flying at 16, went the 'self-improver' route, instructing, ferrying, air photography. airtaxi part135 in MS, then went back to Europe in the late eighties when the job market improved. a stint with Air Europe til it went bust, then Cityflyer. then Monarch. Been flying the A300-600 for over 16 years, and I love the old girl. I once had an Ercoupe 415, which I believe still exists { N2381H }. I dont have much time for light airplane flying, specially with UK winters!
I've got a Ferrari 400i, a rather subdued and anonymous Ferrari but I prefer it this way. I love the v12 and the classy body, even if it's not to everyone's taste!

Hi, I flew 3 tours as an Air Force Combat Rescue Helicopter Pilot in Sikorsky HH-3E Jolly Green Giants (Sikorsky S-61). I flew drone recovery and mid-air retrieval at Tyndall AFB, FL, 1985-1987; CSAR at Osan AB, ROK, 1988; and space shuttle rescue at Patrick AFB, FL, 1989-1992.

Now I'm a systems engineer, working force modernization programs for the USAF CSAR mission.

Don't know why I never wandered into the Aviatorchat section before. Lack of time, I guess.

As a military brat (sort of, raised by retired USMC BGEN with 35,000 hrs from WWII to Nam), I had access to the aero clubs, and did most of my private ticket work at Quantico. I was in parallel doing the Northern Virginia Community College A.A.S. in Aviation Technology. After nearly being killed by Marine chopper pilots, twice, I switched over to Andrews AFB. Took my check ride there with a little old lady named Velta Benn. She was old, I mean OLD, had her pilot's license signed (not kidding) by Orville Wright. My check ride was delayed for about five hours due to weather, and I musta had a dozen little cups of coffee and a pack of cigarettes while waiting impatiently. When she showed up it totally freaked me out. Would much rather have had a Gunny Sergeant.

After finishing at NOVA, transferred to Wilmington College in Delaware. I was accepted to Embry Riddle, but they wanted to toss 2/3 of my credit from NOVA, and I didn't want to do another year. I was an idiot. Three years at Daytona Beach would have just sucked. Anyway, I did four semesters in three at Wilmington College, done in one calendar year with a Bachelors in Aviation Management, finished top of the degree program, Trustee's Award, Summa. Started looking around the industry for Aviation Management positions and realized there really is no such thing. Silly me. Spent half a year in air freight, a year and a half with Butler Aviation as a Ramp Agent and then Dispatcher, leaving the Aviation for the IT industry in 1991.

I don't fly anymore. Think about it. Got a total of maybe 130 hours, some night, maybe 5hrs twin, and 0.2 jet time because a buddy of mine that worked for GE let me taxi his citation to the ramp from tiedown.

 

I just introduced myself on Fchat, thought I'd do the same here. Ive only recently started getting into Ferrari's but I've always been an aviation enthusiast (codeword for "nerd"). Strangely, my interest was mostly in looking at and reading about airplanes, but up until a few years ago I hadn't even thought about flying one. One day somebody suggested an "introductory flight" at an FBO and after that I was hooked. After college I got my PPL and realized I wanted to do this for a living but also wanted to serve my country. I went to the Navy recruiter, months later went to OCS, flew turboweenies in Corpus Christi and Now I'm flying the (mighty) T-45 in Meridian, I'm still a student pilot so no hot-shot aviator talk here, but I love talking cars, and am still greatly interested in civil aviation. So far the site seems great and I hope to chat with you soon.

Oh, and to the gentleman with the Camel and the T-28, best two airplanes on here, although the T-28 looks much better in orange and white

Thank you for your post. I recently obtained my pilot's license on 10/28/10 and the same weekend I flew commercially to Fort Wayne, IN and purchased my first aircraft, a 1979 Cessna 172. I flew her home to Clemson. Her name is Solamente and she is just beautiful. Perfect for me. My most exciting experience so far was getting lost (one of my first solo excursions in November of '09) and ending up in Augusta, GA. Why "old" and why "ex"?

Hi guys!

I've popped my head in here a few times in the past year or so, testing the waters for flight lessons. Well I've finally gone through and I started helicopter flight lessons 2 weeks ago! I'm only a few hours in, but I'm looking to go through to my commercial license and get a CFI rating. The helicopter I'm training in is the Schweizer 300CBi. You'll probably hear more from me as I progress further into this

Hey everyone! Started flying in 1982 in a Super Cub, soloed a Super Decathlon a year later. Went on to learn aerobatics from a local genius. Bought an ultralight in 1987 and quickly got rid of it. Bought a CAP-10 design called a Piel Emeraude and flew it from 1988-2000 when I bought my current bird, a 1996 AC Super Decathlon that I still enjoy tremendously.
