I know this has been covered here before, but after various searches I still can't find many options.

My 02 360 sits for extended periods of time with less than 2000 miles racked up per year while I balance time spent with it, my 355, and my 993 Cabiolet. (Most of my time is spent in my daily driver MB 550ML SUV, yawn...).

Any info on oil manufacturers, specific benefits, and sources would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    GS

Greg- My 575M uses Valvoline fully synthetic 5W-40 because the Shell Ultra Helix/ Pennzoil Ultra (rebadged Ultra Helix for the US ) foams too much for me. Available everywhere and has performed very well in comparison tests.

For hot places like here 75F@100F I use RedLine 10W-40. Great results so far.

Put me down for Redline 5w-40.

Careful playing with oil weights (5w-40 is spec).... go to heavy & you will have oil pressure like BP is dealing with...

Hot enviroments as mentioned above may differ a tad & be OK.

Greg- A list of the most recommended would be the Pennzoil Ultra from Walmart and Shell distributors, Redline from online, and Mobil 1 European Blend (Porsche and MB use it). My techs and I like the Valvoline, but I would not call it highly recommended because most do not think about it. It just works great and is available everywhere.

Redline 5W40 for me in the Ferrari.

Porsches get the Mobil 1, Ferrari gets the extra treatment.

Careful with the Amsoil. I had called them directly a few months ago, they're right here in Wisconsin, and they told me NOT to use any of their products in a Ferrari because they don't have a particular additive. I don't remember the specifics.

I ended up using Castrol full synthetic which is what Continental Ferrari uses when they change oil.

The heavier weight oil for very hot climates is Shell Ultra Helix Racing 10W-60.

For hot climate conditions and racing-type driving on tracks.
