The new OS get released today around 9 AM Pacific time.
Thank God, I now have Multiple exchange accounts. You can also organize things into folders. Such as Games can go into one icon rather than using a full page. Email automatically get sorted by conversations, an example would be if you, and I had been responding to the same email a number would appear in the corner referencing how many responses have been made, and when you click on that email it shows all of them together. It's much easier to explain with a photo, but I don't have emails that aren't work related to show at the moment. I guess the best way I could describe it would be it's similar to the way gmail works. What a fantastic device and my iPhone 4 should arrive Wendesday morning.
Everything went great with mine, really liking the new software. I may be missing something, but has anyone figured out how to tell if a program is multitasking or how to set one to multitask? I'm really liking iBooks, it isn't near as bad reading on it as I thought. Folders are very nice as well, I can just throw some of the apps in a folder I rarely use and hate to have cluttering my home screen.
I'm starting to wonder if Apple can do anything right. After 4 hours my backup progress hadn't moved at all. I read online that this is a common problem with the 3G and that I had to restore the phone and then update to iOS4 from a clean slate. Six hours after I started the process I'm currently restoring from a backup I made last night with 21 minutes to go. iTunes is an absolute nightmare.
Multitasking will only work with the 3GS and iPhone 4, directions here http://gizmodo.com/5568954/the-complete-guide-to-using-ios-4?skyline=true&s=i
Man, this just goes to show you how bad Palm is at marketing. Everyone is so excited about this new half-assed "multitasking" feature on OS4 - and WebOS has had true, real multitasking for over a year now.
OS 4 installed and working last night. Took awhile but it works great. Double click on the home button to do it. Palm had some serious hardware issues with that phone too, which may be the reason they didn't overly market it as a viable product. I know quite a few people who have gone through 4 pre's.
I've never had an issue with my Palm Pre Plus from Verizon. And with the free wireless hotspot, I can use my ipod touch and ipad anywhere I go without the 2Gb AT&T plan restriction.
good to know. I think they hammered out a lot of the issues by now. Seems like a good phone, very easy to use and requires just a thumb.
Thanks, it is working, but I wish there was a way so you knew what programs were actually multitasking than just the fast app-switching ones.
I'm interested to see how everyone else has their home screen set-up now. I condensed everything down to one screen and used folders for stuff I don't use daily. Really simplified the phone, but with the non-full folders it doesn't look very good, hoping for folder icons for the next update. Image Unavailable, Please Login
After my first round of condensing into folders I am down to four pages of apps, I'd like to get it down to two eventually.
I guess I'm late to the party but I finally upgraded last night. Not a fan of re-recordong my VM greeting but had to be done. Runs fairly smooth so far.
I agree, the zoom on the camera ia a definite improvement....However when you multi task the phone acts like its struggling.
Okay, To all of you computer genuises. My Macairbook totally crashed his week. I have all of my contacts, oils apps and music on my iPhone I have an older MacBook ( actually sons old one) that I am going to use now. I know the songs will be wiped clean when i sync iPhone with new computer but I would like to keep apps, contacts and pictures. I also have all the info on my iPad I would like to move from the iPad or my iPhone to the new laptop. To complicate matters a little, i just received notice the my iPhone 4 is on the way from Xenszhen,China.
You should be able to sync your apps. Without knowing how your contacts are setup I can't help you there, but you should be able to sync with multiple computers.
Finally got backgrounding and tethering on my phone. I'm a little bummed that MyWi is now $20 but it sure beats the heck out of paying AT&T $20/month. I also looked at my data usage for the month, 2.1 GB in 13 days. I don't know how the new customers are going to survive with tethering on their 2 GB plans.
