Thank you, Matthew. The design is very modern, so not to everyone's taste. Here is what the finished garage is supposed to look like (as well as the architect's idea of cars that should go in there). The structure in the back is the existing main house. The perspective shown is from the back; the front of the house and the entrance to the garage is on the other side.

When we built the original garage, I wanted to approximate a stable, with individual doors for each car. On reflection, very wide doors would have been convenient.

A general note: I have been going through this very long thread and find it quite enjoyable. Such a variety of styles and approaches, all enthusiastically done. I do about 30 pages per sitting and am about halfway. Some mighty impressive garages there.

    Fantasitco! :D:D

I am doing the same thing with mine. Want 3 EXTRA wide double electric roller doors for my 6 bay garage. :D:D

I am going to tile the 4 bays, put a ceiling in with down lights and I want glass on the backside of the garage so I can see into it from the back of my house. :D:D

Then I want put up a divider wall and leave the last double bay as my "workshop", tools and hoist with an expoy floor and bright lights. :D:D

So pretty much what you are doing. I just didnt want single bays. These cars are too wide to back in and out of single roller door bays.:eek:

Looks awesome Andre, cant wait to see the completed pics. I wont be starting my garage until I buy another investment property later this year. I will look into after that, asap. ;);)

That looks very nice, and usually I'm not a fan of the modern look, but there's just something about your place that makes it work. Can't wait to see it completed.

Just recently completed this for 'Hot Rod' magazine and will be featured on DIY Network. I realize this particular installation is quite a bit different aesthetic than what may appeal to most F-Chatters, but I thought the job was so unique that some people here might appreciate its uniqueness.

My vision for this space within the shop was to create a 'rat rod' appearance that would reinforce the look of early hot rods. To achieve this look, the cabinets were rough welded and all exposed weld joints were hit with a sander to knock down high points, but were left exposed to give them a more industrial appearance. Rather than powder coat the cabinets in a color, which would make them look like every other storage cabinet in a shop, my vision was to leave them in a raw metal appearance, so the cabinets were powder coated with a clear coat so that the beauty of the raw, unfinished metal could shine through. Drawer and door pulls were added after this picture was taken using car parts and hand tools, again to reinforce the 'rat rod' image of the cabinets.

As for the artwork, we collaborated with world renowned airbrush artist Mike Lavallee to achieve the wild effect.

Because the show hasn’t aired yet, I cant post very many pics, but I was very pleased with how everything turned out and the client, who gave us carte blanche to the designers to design the shop, was blown away by the end result.

Chadhaas, although that is not my style, I must say that is a fabulous job. It is a very brave, very original concept, wonderfully executed. Very focused and consistent. Perfect for the hot rods it is intended to house. Certainly not ordinary, but incredible. Please post details, weld joints, the surfaces, etc., when you are able to. Congratulations.

Yes, quite a coincidence, PAP 348. Exactly the same plans. I would have put in very wide roller doors too, if I were starting with a clean sheet.
